He's such a great motivator. All his players look like they'd die for him. They do run through brick walls for him and their fitness levels are frighteningly good!

It comes down to perspective. The club management 20+ yrs ago was caught out by the shift into the premier league and did little long term planning of what to do with the hike in money available, increased worldwide exposure etc... We've never caught up and in light of FFP will find it difficult to do so in the foreseeable.
Doing an Atletico Madrid (good management, smart buying, hard graft) rather than a Man City (sugar daddy) is likely our only way back to the top. Like them or loathe them, FSG have a strategy and that's something we haven't had for some time. First paragraph bang on mate. Second, do you really think an English team will ever be able to do that. I mean its remarkable Atletico managed to do it even with 2 rich clubs in their league. And whilst doing well again are incredibly unlikely to win the title again this or next year. For an English team to win in such a manner we have to rely on 3 (probably 4) richer and better clubs all having a poor season while we have the season of our lives. Even with high spending, the 3rd best (possibly 2nd best) player in the world last season, and the 4 'best' clubs in the country having bad seasons we still just missed out. I don't see any English club ever pulling an Atletico. But honestly I would take Liverpool just getting regular Champions league football for a while to try and repair some of the damage that's been done, though with our 'stadium plan' even that won't do it. Atletico Madrid beat Real Madrid 4-0 in their last La Liga game and are only 4 points behind them in the table so I wouldn't say they can't win La Liga again. Their model and Simeone's work is to be admired, they have managed to stay competitive despite the constant selling of their best players year after year. They have lost Aguero, Diego Costa, Courtois (I know he was only on loan but he was there for a long time) Filipe Luis and obviously Fernando Torres going back a bit further. If Simeone were to go to City like is rumoured then I feel they would overtake Chelsea as being the best team in this country. Like I said they're doing very well this season again. Come see me at the end of the season and we will see if I was right about them not winning the title again yeah? Individual games and touching distance of something are all well and good but forecasting requires a bit more analysis than that mate. Regardless my point still very much stands in the difference between la liga and the premier league. I can't see any English club doing an Atletico and winning the title in the manner they did, nor continuing to be such a force in they have done. They've consistently bought well to replace their star players. But like I said they have much less competition for top 4 than clubs in this country do.

There are some very good sides in Spain, aside from the obvious big 3 you have Valencia, Sevilla and Villareal who are a very good up and coming side, probably the 'Southampton' of Spain but better in my opinion.
Atletico may not win the league this season but they are been on a upward spiral for the last two years so I wouldn't count them out of anything.
No need to speak about it at the end of the season, I watch La Liga regularly which is all the forecasting I need!
I would agree that the Premiership maybe be a little stronger overall and again would agree that Atletico's model probably won't be replicated anywhere else!

They are very good but not on the level of the top 3. Though long term like in germany sides do tend to have a good group come through and challenge the status quo for a short while. They are fantastic and yes got better and better but again come see me at the end of the season if you think they will have anything more than touching distance on the top two come seasons end. They'll likely be close but I'd put money on them (and did) not winning it. As do I, which is why I'm very sure they will be close but are unlikely to win it. I think it could be replicated in some other leagues given a 'perfect storm', but the premier league is the least likely for it to work in. Too many very rich clubs that can out spend you very easily. Both in transfers and wages. The physicality also means a smaller pool of players excel and can be regularly relied upon.

he never smiles or celebrates when he scores. I wouldn't judge him for it. scored a winner. you sound like a bunch of birds analyzing his character. be happy that he scored and move on apparently he said in an interview "a postman never celebrates when he delivers a letter, my job is to score so i don't see why i have to celebrate just for doing my job"

Put a postman on 70 grand a week and I bet he would.
That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.
