If BR starts Mario with Sturridge when match fit let's see where we go with that partnership. Written off far too early for me. Everyone was shocking early season not just Mario. The talent is there it's the graft or lack of it that's the problem.

If he finally understands what is expected of him in this type of set-up the two of them should be the best partnership in the league.

Let's see what happens through February!

If Mario ever looks at this forum - I really hope he doesn't and feels the bewildering hate for one of our own - there is at least one guy that loves you. Me. (And I'm not at all gay, BTW).

downing & carroll got more hate when they played and they put effort in. Where mario gets this sympathy from I don't know, he is a shambles.

That said I would play him up top with sturridge V palace just so we can get the "oh he needs a partner" nonsense out of the way. best blow up in the FA.Cup than in the league where we need to be 100% all the time.

Are we actually disappointed the kid scored and won us the game? Might even be the only goal he scores in the premier league this season BUT could be very important for our hunt for 4th spot.

Celebration is only secondary to the importance of winning that match.

Balotelli gets some support from some because he gets slated by others. I don't know if it's sympathy or a case of trying to work him out, get something from him to justify his existence at the club.

Because he hates it when we win? It must be painful to permanently be so miserable and negative......yeesh it gives me the creeps!

don't confuse support with delusion. The Liverpool fan base is in danger of becoming renowned for having the greatest long term memory and the worst short term memory in football. The fifty tons of crap that has been this season is so ridiculously dismissed because we beat spurs and a 16 mil striker rolled one across the line for his 3rd of the season in February.

Even if we make 4th, what's the outlook for this club? we have a manager who specialises in implosion and bullshiit, owners who are going to sell any player that becomes remotely world class, and a team that has about 40% of the spirit, cohesion and fight it should have.

Liverpool are unrecognisable.

It comes down to perspective. The club management 20+ yrs ago was caught out by the shift into the premier league and did little long term planning of what to do with the hike in money available, increased worldwide exposure etc... We've never caught up and in light of FFP will find it difficult to do so in the foreseeable.

Doing an Atletico Madrid (good management, smart buying, hard graft) rather than a Man City (sugar daddy) is likely our only way back to the top. Like them or loathe them, FSG have a strategy and that's something we haven't had for some time.

Spirit, cohesion and fight comes from the manager and the willingness of the players to dig for that themselves. It comes from supporters too. I don't think many are deluded; some are.

This Liverpool is unrecognisable from the one I grew up watching, yes. It was easy to slot in new players then, it was easy to convince them to come here then. It was easy to support them too. But, it is also unrecognisable from the Hicks & Gillette, Hodgson, Poulsen version too. And I'm grateful for that.

I like the cut of your jib, nogger! Not enough common sense around here at times.

First paragraph bang on mate. Second, do you really think an English team will ever be able to do that. I mean its remarkable Atletico managed to do it even with 2 rich clubs in their league. And whilst doing well again are incredibly unlikely to win the title again this or next year. For an English team to win in such a manner we have to rely on 3 (probably 4) richer and better clubs all having a poor season while we have the season of our lives. Even with high spending, the 3rd best (possibly 2nd best) player in the world last season, and the 4 'best' clubs in the country having bad seasons we still just missed out. I don't see any English club ever pulling an Atletico. But honestly I would take Liverpool just getting regular Champions league football for a while to try and repair some of the damage that's been done, though with our 'stadium plan' even that won't do it.
