they do look a good side. but usually once suspensions and injuries come into play these teams tend to struggle. like newcastle did a few years ago with Ba, Cissé, Cabaye etc.

you could say we were the surprise package last season. but we had a world class forward already accustomed to the premier league playing alongside another top striker in sturridge tearing defences apart for fun.

majority of the games southampton have won have been from very small margins (apart from an 8-0 win against sunderland) whereas we were putting 3 or 4 past most of the top clubs in the league.

i think we're more than capable of over powering teams in a similar fashion to last season when sturridge comes back. hopefully we can step up and prove we belong in the top four

I think that a lot of posters are over expecting regarding Sturridge, playing without Suarez will have a major effect and his injury problems are not just going to disappear IMO. Not buying a decent striker and DM will cost us top 4 and rightly so whoever the culprit(s) are.

of course he'll take some time to get match fit again but its going to provide a massive boost to squad knowing he'll up top leading the line for us again. I've been seeing an increasing amount of selfies from all the players at melwood with daniel in them which shows just how excited they are to finally have him back training again. we've been toothless so far this season but looked much more dangerous earlier in the season with him in the side. again, casting back to that 3-0 win over spurs away from home. if i remember correctly, i think his game time at chelsea was very limited before he arrived hitting the ground running at anfield which hopefully holds him in good stead to capture some form early on after his return. i can certainly see him scoring at least 10 goals between now and the end of the season which will be huge for our chances, especially when gerrard is our top scorer this season.

obviously there are some serious doubts about our other striking options which need to be addressed this window. i won't be too happy with FSG if they don't at least try to get something done on the transfer front considering how woeful our goals tally has been thus far. i wouldn't be looking at a DM just yet, at least not until the summer, as i feel we have decent enough options in squad. the same DM's who got us our title push last season can manage for now. another goalkeeping option wouldn't go a miss. also the jury is still out on dean lovren who can hopefully come good between now and the end of the season

Sturridge scored OK without Suarez last year remember.

My plan: Have another raid at Southampton in January, bring Schneiderlen, Wanyama and Tadic to Anfield. This will knock Southampton out of the top four. Arsenal will take care of Arsenal as they usually do in the second half. Sorted.

On s-m-a-l-l problem.......why would those players give up potential CL football to join us?

i'd personally take clyne and schneirderlin but any players coming from them, especially after last summer will only be available for double what they're actually worth. you're talking at least £25m for morgan scheirderlin and about £18m for nathaniel clyne. i also think they'd be reluctant to sell in january because of their CL chances.

the only way i see any of them leaving is if they're unsettled by the interest and try to force the move through like lovren did. just don't see the owners spending that kind of money. at least not in this window

Right now Southampton is in a better position than us to qualify for CL and going on strike would only last a couple of weeks, so why would they do it to join us.
