Interesting opinion, but I suspect it is formed due to short term memory?
At his best, Reina was good - very good in fact. But Dudek on top form was simply sensational. I remember very clearly thinking he was a world beater but never quite had that same feeling for Reina, even though he played behind a better defence.
champions league final he was off the scale but remember he was on his way out at the time and why was that? because of his poor form. Reina was better in my opinion but Dudek will be forever (right so) in folklore because of that final
Actually, my opinion is based on way before the CL final. Let's not forget, he let in 3 first half goals. ...
For a period of 18-24 months he was by far the best keeper in the world as far as I'm concerned. Yes, his form had dropped and yes it was time that he went but for 'that period' there has been no one like him.
Incidentally, what do we do to our keepers?? Dudek was superb but it all went wrong. Same applies to Reina. Mignolet was deemed to be a great keeper until we got our coaching claws into him. Westervelt initially looked very good and Kirkland was deemed to be the next big GK superstar! It all went pear shaped for them after signing for Liverpool.
