With Utd and Arsenal out the way, Liverpool are in a position where winning will mean twice as much for the next few games.
On Sunday, 6 of the top 7 (& 8 of the top 12) play against each other, before we play Swansea as another 2 of the top 9.
Tottenham V Man Utd 12:00
Southampton V Chelsea 14:05
Man City V Burnley 15:00
Stoke V West Brom 15:00
West Ham V Arsenal 15:00
Newcastle V Everton 16:15
Liverpool V Swansea 20:00
With such a fortunate fixture list, the minimum hope has to be maintaining the distance to third and fourth, but with Southampton likely to be beaten by Chelsea, and a tricky game away at Spurs for United, it could be that a win could mean much more than just points on the board...
The following Thursday, Liverpool are at home to bottom-placed Leicester. A team that will be bottom on the day as they are already 5 adrift. 6 of the top 11 face each of other, with 4 of the top 7 as it stands facing off. If results go our way, Liverpool could be 4 points from third if they win both games.
Stoke V Man Utd 12:45
Hull V Everton 15:00
Liverpool V Leicester 15:00
Man City V Sunderland 15:00
Newcastle V Burnley 15:00
QPR V Swansea 15:00
Southampton V Arsenal 15:00
West Ham V West Brom 15:00
Tottenham V Chelsea 17:30
After a relatively opportunistic tie against Wimbledon, when most of the top half face off against premier league and championship fodder, the next weekend brings about one more opportunity...
Leicester V Newcastle 15:00
Tranmere V Swansea 15:00
Man City V Sheff Wed 15:00
Southampton V Ipswich 15:00
Stoke V Wrexham 15:00
Yeovil V Man Utd 15:30
Chelsea V Watford 16:00
Arsenal V Hull 17:30
Burnley V Tottenham 19:45
Wimbledon V Liverpool 19:55
Everton V West Ham 19:45
Liverpool away at Sunderland is a decent fixture and upgrade from Leicester to move on from, especially relevant when 10 of the current top 12 play each other again that weekend.
Sunderland V Liverpool 12:45
Chelsea V Newcastle 15:00
Everton V Man City 15:00
Swansea V West Ham 15:00
Crystal Palace V Tottenham 17:30
Arsenal V Stoke 13:30
Man Utd V Southampton 16:00
If Liverpool can win the 3 league games, and put a 4 match winning run together for the first time since the incredible 11 we had managed before that dreaded Chelsea game last season, we could just be back in the reckoning quicker than the fanbase can write off Rodgers and the media write off our chances. That's without mentioning that Liverpool away at Villa is the next league fixture, when City play Arsenal.
As much as I was incredibly unconvinced by our display today, we won playing ugly...
If we have to do that to get the next three wins, maybe even four, I'll take it. It's a big ask on current form and results, but times look good before we face off with Chelsea in that fateful League Cup Semi...
