Rant over- apologies all!

I think that it is all about balls/confidence and the more success you have the more confident you are and therefore are ready to take bigger risks as you do not have anything to prove. Finding your way upwards when you have never had success/trophy will always be harder and you will take less risks with the money you have.

In anycase, I think that we are underperforming as BR is not getting the best out of the squad, i can definitely understand that we are behind Chelsea, City, United and Arsenal but not the likes of Southampton etc. Makes me think that last season was all about our overperforming attack thanks to Suarez.

You might well be right Vish. Thing is, and I'll try and dig it out as it was a good article, when we sold Suarez and half our goals Rogers went for £4 million Lambert (no offence to the lad honest grafter and all that) when he should have gone for a Benzema at £40 million. We then panic bought a Ballo (doesn't fit the play and forgetting his issues) at the back end of the season as another perceived half price bargain. Are we as a club in such a position of strength to be taking these risks?

It's like our transfer policy is all over the shop and when we do spend a fair bit are from small clubs (where they look good in an average team) e.g. Adams under Kenny. It hasn't changed much by the look of it.

I honestly think if Rogers and maybe Ayer had said to the fans we are going to buy 3 or 4 top quality proven players and it may take longer and yes we maybe a bit thin/stretched most would have understood. They didn't and now we have a hopscotch of cheaps, overpriced small club punts and real young guys in mid way house that none of which look like panning out bar maybe Lallana.
