Even not at his best he was twice the keeper of Migs. Even when he was a 'liability' I never felt as nervous when a ball came into the box as I do with Migs.

Regardless of whether he tried to move on or what he said about Rafa, he was still the best keeper we had and have had for many years. To sell for £2m when Migs is as bad as he is was fukking madness.

I see it this way....

Reina's form was unquestionably on the slide, and had been for some time...
BR wanted someone better, someone more loyal to him & the club...
Reina didn't want to be No2 and the club couldn't justify those wages for someone that would rarely play...

Unfortunately, SM hasn't been great (no worse than Reina), and the fans are blaming him for our poor defence, when he is only a small part of the problem. No one was complaining when we were about to sign him so all this anger at him is based on good old fashioned hindsight.

Do I think Reina would be better behind that shower of cack that calls itself our defence? no. But I don't think he'd do any worse either.

In a nutshell, both keepers would improve if our defence was better. Blame the defenders and the coaching.

Again well said. Reina was very poor for us for about 3 seasons. I thought it was the right decision to sell him.

The wrong decision was not buying proper competition for Mignolet, there were plenty of decent keepers available in the Summer, Barca bought two, Real Madrid bought one and Atletico Madrid bought two, Bravo, Navas, Ter Stegen, Oblak, Moya.

People seem to forget that when we bought him, Mignolet was being touted as one of the best two keepers in the land, the other being Begovic. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Plus he shouldn't be judged individually as he forms the last line of a very fragile defense and plays a system in which our already nervous defenders are asked to keep farting around with the ball at the edge of the area until they lose it and start screaming around.

Speaking of Begovic did anyone see him pass the ball to Van Persie on Tuesday? It was as bad an error as Mignolet's pass to Cambiasso but it will just get ignored while Mignolet gets hammered by our fans who scream for Begovic at every opportunity.

Migs is more in the Lazarus mode, i.e. in a state of rigor mortis on his line until Jesus calls him forth! He kicks like Lazarus, he throws like lazarus and he looks like lazarus, so for me he is a duc...er.. I mean Lazarus!

I wonder who it is people continually reference as being the instigators of these wonderful 'best XYZ player in the land' business? It's amazing how we seem to buy so many so called touted players before City,Chelsea or your top foreign teams.

The trend seems to be that when these undervalued and unseen 'superstars' of the game come from small clubs we manage to snap them up, yet players mentally and physically proven at the highest echelons of the game and likewise such clubs are available they go to the aforementioned teams. Funny that.

It's time Rogers and the band of merry men who 'aid' him in his transfers realise that a guy who looks like Pele at a minnow is still a huge risk with a number of factors they aren't factoring in until AFTER we've done £20-25 million and they look like being another mantle piece flop.. The (cough) 'weight of the shirt' and mental step up appears to be a massive component that nearly all of our buys under Rogers have failed to grow into. Surprise Surprise that the two best (Sturridge and Couthino) both came from massive clubs to start with!

How long before we are back poaching from Southampton and the like at over inflated prices for another risky punt?

About time they learnt and we stopped wasting millions on having to buy twice or three times to get it right.

In football and the stats support it, buy cheap buy twice was never more true pity Rogers still appears to have failed to learn so.

Definitely the coaching should be blamed but for me Reina is way better than Mignolet.

Read a good quote a few days ago, that Rogers thinks like a small time Swansea manager not as a big club manager on transfers Mourho and V.Gaal do not.

Let's start seeing a few players from TOP clubs at competitive money rather than looking at unproven options with small pond big fish starlet syndrome, where we think their value may double if we hit the jackpot cause we don't seem to be hitting many jackpots of late.

Rant over- apologies all!
