Perhaps to our American fans but otherwise to anyone who knows

In America baseball and NFL what is the norm on player acquisitions ?

Is it entirely the manager / coach ?

Or does some other central management in the club deal with it ?

Or a mixture of both

I am wondering whether FSG are applying some model from these sports (or hybrid of) to premiership football.

Baseball teams will have a manager and a general manager. The manager is the one who manages the team- match day stuff, who to sub etc. whereas the general manager is managing the club if you know what i mean- transfers etc.

Not sure it equates to football that easily, the 2 jobs are for the most part done by the manager. We're a bit different in that we have a transfer committee, other clubs have a director of football, others the owner is a lot more involved in signings etc. FSG are probably trying to see if they can bring some ideas over, but it won't be exactly the same, football teams are not set up in the same way baseball teams are (as far as I know)

Thanks Harley

I wonder whether Brendan refused to work under a director of football at the interview but accepted this committee and it is as Sam says in effect a director of football in all but name.

If I remember correctly Brendan Rodgers was first approached by FSG with the intentions of working with a Director of Football but he didn't want this so backed out. FSG later went back to him with the offer of having his own say on transfers?

I hope thats not true because if these are Brendans unfettered choice then we have a problem. A big one.

His committee will be Rodgers, Pascoe and Marsh, with Pascoe and Marsh both playing the Phil Neal yes boss role
