The thing is we can't do much worse than sticking with a formula that is bringing ruin to the club. If you don't do things differently, there won't be a different outcome. I don't know who's going to be the solution for us, Frank do Boer maybe, but at least with someone new I'd at least have some hope. Rafa is actually a good option - he can at least steady the ship by sorting out our crap defence - and has at least proven himself. I actually think this mess we are in is similar to Houllier's last year when we had traore, cisse, smicer amongst other crap in our team.

Napoli are currently 3rd after 11 in Serie A and on the up. What I'd take for 3rd at the moment. Spent force my arse and his last season he couldn't get 2 bob out of Hicks let alone £120 million on what is looking like a bunch of bangers.

Napoli are now 8 games unbeaten, 3rd in Serie A, with every chance of winning the league, top of their group in Europa League and still in the domestic cups. Having had barely any transfer money in the Summer.

Rafa's contract is up in the Summer.

Would he come here now and forfeit the chance to be a success in Italy?

With FSG at the helm he'd be mad too yet the tug is great no doubt. They wouldn't have him though, can you imagine- he'd be like some weird Spanish version of Cloughy letting rip all over the place smile

As Flames said though it would be some ride that's for sure!

The other thing to consider is that Rafa bought Skrtel, Johnson, Lucas, Suso and Sterling to Liverpool. He knows how to get the best out of Gerrard.

He signed Coutinho as a teen at Inter an was said to have advised FSG to sign him.

He apparently mae attempts to sign Balotelli from Liverpool not so long ago.

Rafa is 100 percent better with transfers than Rodgers, there is no doubt about that. But he had his time and he hasn't done ever so great since. What's the point in looking back? Are players really gonna think, ahhh now we're heading in the right direction and raise their game??

Winning the UEFA cup with a side that should have been competing for the champions league trophy you mean? That's why I said he hasn't done ever so great. He hasn't done badly, but he hasn't done great either.

Indeed, but he couldn't qualify Chelsea for the next round in the CL, this is how they ended up in the Europa league. Also, Rafa has hardly been great with Roma, in fact they regressed with him. That said, IMO, he is better than BR.
