The problem for me is simple.

We replaced Suarez with Balotelli, Now all this talk off Rodgers out. Ok, but I cannot see any manager getting a forward line of Balotelli,Borini, Lambert working. There is no tactics that I could see that would make this work.

I think playing Balotelli up on his own is not the answer, but a combination of Borini, Lambert is offering nothing as well.

The problem for me is not Rodgers(at the moment) the problem is how and why did we get ourselves into a situation where we had to sign Balotelli as a replacement for Suarez??

That is the problem not the defence(as the defence was crap last year)

well he could have fixed the defense . but yeah balotelli signing is shocking and danny's injury has just highlighted it even more. I do think he wanted Bony first but the committee overruled him.

Some might suggest that this is a circular reference... meaning that the answer to your question is... Brendon Rodgers. he must have had a big part in either signing or having to sign Balo (assuming that our problem is simply that Balo is not as good as Suarez/Sturride, which itself is probably not the extent of the problem). But if the answer to your question is BR, but for you BR is not the problem you then end up asking yourself the same question... the answer to which is.... yep, BR. and so you'll find yourself stuck in a loop such that you'll have to CTRL-ALT-DEl to reboot your system. Get my drift ? smile

He has made some iffy decisions this year. But I cannot fault Rodgers tactics overall, as last year when we had a good forward line he had us playing amazing. So in that sense he cannot be faulted he did an amazing job last season.

Did he want Balotelli, no i don't think so. Was he forced to make the decision to sign Balotelli because he was the best option because we had messed up looking for a replacment for Suarez? yes i think so. I'm saying the problem lies with whoever let it come to a point were Balotelli was the only player we could sign as a replacement for Suarez.

And I'm saying that BR will be a big part of letting it come to that point. He knew as early as anyone that Suarez might go. He also is responsible for contingency planning for the absence of Sturridge. So why did he not insist on getting appropriate cover in time for the start of the season? More so because at one point it looked as if Borini would be off too. Even if we couldn't attract a finished article calibre of striker, should he not have taken a punt on a younger striker with pace, movement etc? Why did he sign Lambert? And if his answer to these questions would be something to do with a committee then he should be exposing the restrictions on him and should be prepared to refuse to work under them, i.e. resign.

How can you not fault Rodgers tactics overall? 14 points from 10 games. We could see within a few games that Balo was not suited to playing up front on his own, yet BR refuses to change those tactics?

Yes, last season he found the right tactics for the players at his disposal (except when it came to the big games) but this season he has failed to do that. His job is to get the best results with the given resources.

That's not what he said.

He stated he has last/final say on transfers. So, if the committee has shortlisted:

Ballotelli

You

Me

Stan

Growler

Based on the FSG way then BR chews over the options and decides by the slimmest of margins that Ballo offers the best chance of improving his side.

See the problem. A Costa on £200k a week is not even on a shortlist.

As with my OP I said any tactics will not work with Borini, Lambert or Balotelli as a front line. Fans complain about Balotelli being on his own( I don't like it) but what has Borini and Lambert offered when they have been put in a combination? very little.

Can u tell me another manager who would get these forwards firing?

My original point is the signing off Balotelli as a replacement off Suarez is why we are were are this season. Not BR tactics.

BR sanctioned all of those signings. He takes a big responsibility for replacing Suarez with Balo.

Also, Borini & Lambert haven't been given a decent run of games. Borini being the younger and having refused to leave should have been given a decent run alongside Balo.

Sorry mate but Borini does not score a lot of goals. He runs around a lot and makes pretty runs. But his assists and goals record tells you all you need to know about him.

Yes if BR had a big say in that signing then he deserves a rocket up his arse. But if it was his only option then that is another thing.

I think the signings were decent, nothing amazing. Lovern looks a disaster though and Markovic might turn out good, i don't know but the money could have been spent better elsewhere.

Balotelli replacing Suarez is the problem
