Sad day when Stevie retires blah blah blah.... I couldn't really care less. I support Liverpool not Steven Gerrard FC - It's not like he's in his bleedin' prime and thinking about chucking it in - he's old and lost his legs, hasn't had a decent shot on him for god knows how many seasons now - you lot have got rocks in your heads!

I'm not saying we send him off to the glue factory, but there's no way he should be the first name on the bloody sheet.. we'll only shoot ourselves in the foot if we continue to be all bloody centimental.

Comparing Gerrard and Alonso is rediculous.
Alonso has immense skills, a talent for one touch control of the ball, great balance and can play with confidence with both feet.
He is a dictator and a general.
Stevie is one footed, as are most English players and limited in technique. His greatest asset was his stamina.
Currently his job is to stand in front of the defence and ???? knock the occasional diagonal long ball to the flanks because we cant get the ball there in regular play.

We only have Sterling right now because he was thrown in the Deep end - Gerrard (and Lucas) are preventing younger players from coming through.

Gerrard hasn't been good enough to play for us for about 5 years, he takes every set piece possible in order to get his stats up, as he knows it's the only way he will.

BR doesn't have the balls to drop him though, as he knows that as soon as he does, Gerrard will go crying to the papers and the owners; calling for BR to be sacked. The guy's a mercenary and no doubt he will get a contract extension by Xmas and plague the team for another season or until a new manager tells him he's done. Then Gerrard will no doubt join the club he's wanted to for the last decade in order to win something and pay for his retirement.
