Balo has scored just under a goal every two games so far in his senior career, compared to about one in four for Welbeck, To me, its a no brainer as to who is the superior footballer. Regardless of the numbers, Balotelli has been known to stamp his authority on certain games, winning them single handedly -Italy vs. Germany in Euro 2012 springs to mind-, while I've never seen Welbeck do that. You'd think Mario is much older when they're almost the same age. Just tells you who's had more impact. The whole thread doesn't make any sense to me and is solely based on very recent form and results.

That’s fine if uou view the player v player and ignore the context of team and playing style. imo Welbeck is the better option for our style of play than Mario. I don’t totally discount the possibility that Mario can be moulded to suit our style but given his aparent personality it won’t be easy, even for Rodgers. Then you have to consider the risk factor between the two players. All things considered if I had the choice I’d pick Welbeck.

Having said that, had he never played for them and been available around the £12 mil mark, give or take, I'd have been quite happy with the signing.

He's not exactly worth the discussion to be honest, given he played for them and he's hardly a stand out striker - can't believe he's getting this much attention on an LFC forum
