I can see your reasoning but, football has been the most popular sport on the planet for a while and its popularity is growing. Just look at the number of both amateur and pro football clubs, its growing by the day. The popularity of the sport will ultimately be decided by its media exposure and football is doing the most on that front, by a country mile.
Without getting into the psychology of it all, we have seen time and time again that media set trends and gibe rise to popularity on an unparalleled basis. I see no reason why people from Asia couldn't choose to follow more than one sport either. Serbia is much more successful, with numerous gold and silver medals from world championships, in Basketball, volleyball and water polo, yet football is considered our national sport. I follow all of these sports, albeit volleyball and water polo at national level. But i follow both basketball and footie with a similar passion at club level.
I can see the possibility of rising prices for media coverage and rising match ticket prices falling steeply, because at some point customers will say "enough is enough", but i cant see the global market for the PL collapsing. There are simply too many hungry customers.

To build their brand and sell their products that could change at any moment based on corporate strategy they are not doing it because they are kopites yes but as long as Liverpool have a viewer base measured in tens of millions, it wont change. It might not be standard chartered forever, but there will always be some company wanting their name on our shirt.

It won't collapse marko it will mature another point is other countries are catching up. You are right about football being the most popular sport (but not in America India and China) but we are seeing other countries Spain Germany France now starting to globally market so although the market is growing more players are in it, And if television is generating money for football (and sponsorship) you can bet others sports will get in the act. Ultimately the market will mature and it will be harder and grader fir oremershio clubs to dominate that money. I think that is sooner than we think the TV companies are already making noises hence faz post and from what the papers are saying BT massively overpaid and the company is paying the price they won't repeat that mistake

I am with virgin and I read something about the challenge from them. More generally I think football will burst I think it's unsustainable in time I believe it will revert back to match going fans there will still be TV rights of course but the trend will be larger stadia and match experience similar to America, We see with BT where household charges are being increased to pay for the football it's reached it's limit and I feel also sponsorship will start to level out. It's simple economics no one is making money from football other than players and agents that can't go on. The world is much larger than match revenue I'm afraid Stan. To put things into perspective, I think there are more LFC supporters in south east asia alone than the UK combined. And we're not talking about China yet.

What's the revenue vs britain I bet it's no more than two or three per cent and I would be surprised if it's that

If you add in the revenue on a global basis for existing sales, it's very significant. I'm talking about TV rights, shirt sales etc. And the key is the potential you can tap on from the world wide fan base. Once they manage to find a way to unlock the value, it's going to explode big time.

According to Delloitte domestic TV rights for the premier league bare worth 5.7 billion dollars this season and overseas broadcasting rights 3.7 billion dollars. That's hardly 3% of the domestic media revenue. If you add to that the income from merchandise, you will see just how much the overseas market generates. Yes there are a lot of counterfeit shirts, but there are a hell of a lot of original ones too.
