I hate anchovies, but I like Markovic. It's a bit much to single out any player for analysis when the entire team isn't up to speed, we're just going through yet another settling period imo.

But marcovic looked lost other than one little run he seemed out of the game entirely to me. Early days of course but I was expecting more given the write ups and what we paid pre season I was expecting far more of an impact. Hope it's just a bad day of the office and we don't gave yet another flop on our hands

Based on his career up acquisition Marko was a gamble and I don't think suited to the PL but he is young, very quick, fits the system we played last year, and has a lot of time to prove himself. Some players do take a while to get used the PL.

Lallana on the other hand will always be okay, maybe a trick will win us a game some time but we will never dominate a midfield and will never consistently win us games in my opinion (again based on his career up to acquisition). He had his most amazing season ever last year and is 25/26 I think. He's never gonna repeat that season in my opinion, every season will be worse than that, if nothing else cause Liverpool will never play around him like Southampton did quite often (where he was a big fish in a small pond) as we already had and have better players than him (much better). Thus whilst Lallana already looks okay, and will be okay, its an incredibly average signing that isn't of the required top 4 quality. And his start at Liverpool is proving all of this right (I said it over the summer), though he has a lot of time to prove me wrong I grant you. Marko on the other hand has the potential to really be something and has a chance to be better than he has been before. Buying both of them was really stupid, and we dramatically over paid for both of them. Similarly neither were the best we could have got for that money as we probably could have got both even without champions league football. I'm just depressing myself at how poor our transfer business was ONCE AGAIN under Rodgers. So much money wasted.

Agree to a point. Good players no doubt but not amazing . We need these types of players and I am confident that they will contribute positively over the next two seasons. I just feel we have hung our hat on steady eddies plus balotelli, that does not fully satisfy me. Not unhappy just feel we could have achieved a little more.

Well no, most definitely and quite obviously not. I'm not suggesting Vish should have gone to lengths required to take a truly random sample because that is quite impossible for him to do on a forum like this with the resources at his disposal. I'm simply stating that he cannot infer from it that its representative of posters on this site as a whole. Again it might well reflect majority opinion by fluke, and most people might have been happy with their transfer business. But the nature of the sample isn't random by definition, and for me due to the tiny cross-section it represents is also not representative of that which he claims it to be. If he had said its little more than an indicator, I'd have said fair enough, but on a number of occasions he has suggested it to be an infallible poll, of which it is quite obviously not.
. And again you post without explanataion. Allow me to explain, that had Vish taken into consideration the probability of certain posters being on the site or taken into account the probability of this opinion versus that opinion, the sample would no longer be random. Like this it is. Had he taken any measures to sway it this way or that, it wouldn't have been.

The sample is as random as you will get in the forum and representative of the community as a whole, with the question in mind. You might not like it', but that doesn't change the facts.

No I did explain, and the fact is that 1. it is not random, and 2. you clearly don't understand what a random sample is. I tried to be polite to you about it but you keep digging a hole on something you clearly don't have a grasp on. As I said, first year analysts get a first strike for misunderstanding random samples the way you just have. I've explained it several times and clearly you don't like it but THOSE are the facts. Sorry buddy but its true. I've seen you fight with lots of people on this forum so I won't reply again as I don't want to get into a tit for tat with you like I did with Vish cause it ruins the forum for everyone and I know all you really care about is getting the last word. But my suggestion to you for your own benefit is that when discussing something that has a factual answer such as the definition of random sample, you should really read up on it before being condescending and gun ho because it makes you look silly when you don't have a grasp on it.

But just becuz its not rndm doesnt mean it isnt representative. Can we all mov on frm this now plz and discuss the actual topic its soooo borin nw

I do not see how I've been childish but as I said I won't reply to him on the matter again, I've already washed my hands of it. Apologies for commandeering the thread for a rather boring (what shouldn't have been a) debate on random sampling. I think I upset him so he wouldn't let it drop so apologies for that too, I was just trying to share a simple fact.
