I find this an unbelievable public admission at all, let alone 2 days before Everton. http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/29364830

Read that too and what made me worry, let alone the admission, is that he doesn't think we have a problem with our defence. If he thinks we can be as good as last year in terms of scoring goals, then we really have a problem.

Agree Vish. I think we have both thought he has always been far to open but this is ridiculous. Would SFA ever make such an admission? Would he hell.
Very worrying, sounds like his confidence is totally shot to bits and does nothing for your team as the leader either does it?
Also feel vindicated with what many have seen, too many introduced far too quickly. I'll be amazed now if he lasts the season. Sounds like he's struggling with what to do to put things right under this pressure, it really does.

I'm not sure it's a case of losing the plot. The fact that he only now seems to realise what many suspected would happen when you bring so many new faces in at once is surprising. People saw what happened to Spurs only last season.. and even without that glaring example, it should have been foreseen.
i had previously given him the benefit of doubt thinking that he had carefully selected the players, making sure they had the qualities, either skills or attitude, to be able to pick up and implement his approach quickly.
what is worrying is his mention of working with the previous batch for 6-12 months before they starting winning consistently. Is he laying the foundations for telling us that we'll need to wait 'till next season for the current batch to gel?

I think that the team has a big confidence problem with our midfield almost inexistent.

If I'm honest I don't think Rodgers has ever been very good at talking to the press, it's just a lot easier to do when you're winning than when you're under a bit of pressure.

If you read the actual interview, they're stretching what he said a bit. What he said was
"We put in a lot of hard work in the first six months to a year we were here, and a lot of those processes became natural," added the Northern Irishman, who joined the club in 2012. "The consequence of that was winning."
"But we introduced a raft of new players - you lose the core of players who were important, and that's obviously a factor and then it becomes a bit broken. "That's how our game has looked for a big part of the season, but I have a group of players here who identify with that."

He never said that Liverpool are broken, he said that the process becomes a bit broken. Not nearly the same.

I don't think he's under pressure. It's early days. I think he's just trying the being frank and open approach. Lots of teams seem to be struggling at the moment and there's no point him denying the obvious.
His job is safe too in my opinion. FSG have got someone who doesn't moan about not getting Class A signings and he has proved that he can do well without the prima donnas. FSG in a win win situation at the moment.
