Its killing the excitement and enjoyment of the games.
as i say a lot of day trippers , it will be different against everton less day trippers .
again, i think the reason it will be different is not because there are less day trippers, but because the locals get more enthusiastic about a local derby, which just goes towards the fact that its the regular match going fans who aren't excited enough and loud enough at the other games.
dont agree marko , no issue at all with day trippers or the likes , but if you seen some of them half and half scarves looking like the club shop mascot well yes very nice but no atmosphere sadly .

Fair enough, as i sadi, i could be wrong, and you are obviously more regular at the matches than i am so, i will have to take your word for it.

the change in the demographics of the match going fans is a phenomenon which has happened all over the world, yet the change in atmosphere seems to be something England is struggling with more than others. Ask anyone who watched the Partizan vs Spurs game what the atmosphere was like in Serbia...look at the atmosphere in Brazil, Argentina etc. It hasn't died down despite a change in the demographics. I would think Faz's theory is closer to the truth than just a change in demographic.

Otherwise the atmosphere at games would be dying down all across the planet, and its not. Also, i don't think that theory about wealthier folk not being loud stands. One look at a rugby game in South Africa or anywhere could show you that the doctors, dentists, accountants and wealthy crowd at these games still make a hell of a lot of noise and atmosphere.

Of course, I know you aren't having a go. I believe you. I guess in terms of finance, it's good for the club, but the atmosphere is lacking.

Unfortunately for me I cannot go to games so won't know much why Anfield is more silent now or if it is significantly silent, however, I feel that fans have lost confidence too in their players/team after continuous below par results over the last years. I am very nervous now when I watch games and 2 seasons back was almost uninterested in terms of expectations. I don't know if that could be one reasons as when you don't believe enough and worried and therefore not pumped up, you shout less. After we scored in the week, we were better, no? I would think that with success things would change, but I don't know.

Faz, as I think you are the fan going to games more than anybody else here, is Anfield much more silent now and if yes do you have an explanation?
for me its the same as it has been for years , full of day trippers with half and half scarfs , treating it like a museum , its the season ticket holders on the kop main and kemlyn road stands who are vocal .

When you say day trippers, how significant are their numbers, is that more than 25% of the crowd? Otherwise I don't think they would have that much as an influence, no? When I went to the Everton away game last year, I met a group of guys in their 30ies living in London who were LFC season ticket holders, therefore travelling to Liverpool every other week to go to games at Anfield and also going to away games regularly. They are Londoners but also LFC season ticket holders, who I suppose would not be day trippers in your definition, no?

By the way, that game was in Liverpool with 2 local teams playing, but was quite amazed to see so many supporters of both teams coming from London to a game which I was told was the most complicated for a LFC fan to get a ticket.
