Why not base it on the eithad which was £110m ? Could it be because you don't want Liverpool to build a new stadium not because that's what you want to believe but because you want to defend your arguments at all costs despite overwhelming evidence if Everton get a modern new stadium it will be the ultimate insult and evetonians won't be slow to remind us

I was only messing with the Wembley thing. Shocked me how much it cost.

Anyway, yes we can base it on the Etihad. I don't know how much a new stadium will cost but I would imagine that one like the drawings that H & G put out there would be a lot more than the Etihad. Looked a little more modern if you like (all my opinion of course based on pictures). But I wouldn't think it's unreasonable to expect we'd pay at least £250m what with inflation.

Would we need to buy the ground on Stanley Park or is the quoted prices include that?

I think they would include that it's owned by the council but even if not the land would be peanuts in anfield especially without permission for housing a few hundred thousand I would guess so we could be looking at £100m differential between refurb don't forget the new build would include all four stands not two.

Sounds attractive if it was the case. I'd definitely like a new stadium. But you have to trust this has all been looked at and costed out. We're just speculating.

After this news there are certainly questions to ask FSG,s numbers don't seem to stack up

Maybe. But unless we know the details of Everton's proposed stadium, we can't really compare.

The figures quoted for our new stadium remind me of our talk around quality signings...all smoke and mirrors. Wonder what the money worrier's on here will say if Everton do leave us in their shadow, I suppose they'll say it's all right, we couldn't afford to compete with Everton. Our owners are being wise again!

I have never had a good feeling about John Henry the more time gives on the worse it gets I don't think he is being truthful with Liverpool fans and is playing us very well. Liverpool is a huge club and we are fighting with one hand tied behind our backs

Well he doesn't love football, he doesn't love Liverpool city but he does love to make money, that's why he's here. He'll do what he reckons will give him the best ROI at minimum or at the least risk. If that requires him to play smoke and mirrors and manage expectations that's what he'll do. It's a safe bet that nothing he does is for the love of LFC or it's long term future, everything he does is with an eye to ROI. As you've said yourself if we we're in his shoes and coming from where he's coming from, business wise, we'd do the same thing ourselves. Hard to believe some fans can bring themselves to believe he's here because he loves us, and will only ever do what's in our best long term interests. He'll do what's in his own best interests at any time he considers suits him best.
