He has been good, but I think a bit more guile will suit this game, and I think Phil could do well this week, especially at home. I'd like him to be firing on all cylinders asap, and Allen looked a bit jaded in the Wales game (in which the Welsh players were knocked around a bit).

thats a fair point, countinho needs to get his form back too, a team like villa would suit him.

Allen is a good option, and a useful player though. I do rate him, especially in games against teams like City who would try to boss the midfield, but I think we need someone with the vision to unlock the Villa defense with that killer pass.

Alot of people give allen stick. Not sure why though, I think they are just basing it off his first season he is gradually getting better just like hendo did, Allen keeps the ball well, he has great vision too and works very hard.

I think we should keep a clean sheet, and balotelli to get a goal aswell, he looked very lively against spurs, just his finishing looked a little rusty since he hasn't had much game time. But that will come back in a few games.

Would like to see Gerrard dropped (cough) rested for this if possible. If we can't beat Villa at home with the squad we have now we might as well not bother staking a claim for even top4 this season. That is not saying we don't respect them having been something of a bogey side under Rogers, but have enough confidence to play with Ballo and Borini to have a right good go early.

Mario and Fabio as a partnership would be interesting to see. I want to see how that would work at some point this season. Now is as good a time as any, I suppose.

Think you're getting a bit carried away there. We didn't beat them at home last season and finished 2nd without the squad we have now. I'd say with the squad we have now, we have a much better chance of finishing in the top four, regardless of Saturday's result.

Don't think borini is good enough, scored a couple decent goals for sunderland and the rest were penalties
