Apparently Milan are glad to see the back of Mario and have high hopes that Torres will be their superstar.

If Torres can recapture his form, is he a better player than a level-headed Mario?

Thoughts?

It won't happen, but IF he got his (early) lfc form back, he'd be twice the player Mario is. Torres just seems done though and a settled Mario can get much better, we just don't know how much better.

That is a big leap to suggest Milan were fed up with Ballo and his antics when there have been very few on the field. Milan's ownership structure has changed by what I have read and now the daughter or long lost niece or similar is playing wannabe super manager.

IF Ballo has realised that his reckless days must and have come to an end, however good Torres was I'd argue Ballo has a much more all round game and can find the solution to situations far more than Torres. His stint at Chelsea proved to me (and Raffa having the whole team play to his strengths at LFC) that he was a one trick pony and once the pace went he was finished on a game by game basis.

Once his pace was gone, just like Owen, Torres was never the same player. I am not convinced about Ballo, he has been too inconsistent, but right now he should be better than Torres

Both Torres and Balotelli joined us at about the same age. Suarez too for that matter.
Torres and Balotelli have a similar goals to games ratio at the same stage of their careers.
We may see that that we get the best years out of Balotelli as we did the same with Torres and arguably with Suarez.
If Balotelli hits the same level as the other 2 did this is going to be the bargain of the decade.

Well everything we do in recruitment is a gamble and so is Mario. However if it works out as well as the gamble on Rodgers did it'll be a master stroke.

I'd take a 2008/9 Torres over Mario.

What a lot of people overlook was Gerrard's contribution to Torres performance in those days also in more recent times to Suarez's performances. Without Gerrard neither of them would have had the level of success they enjoyed on the pitch at Anfield .

I don't know about that for Suarez. For Torres I absolutely agree, but Suarez has been pretty stellar for club and country everywhere he's played. And he was pretty amazing whether Gerrard was there or not.
