I remember when faz posted the "raheem the myth sterling" thread. A few of us stuck up for him (emp was one I remember), but many were saying that he wasn't good enough. I think it's safe to say he's proved the doubters wrong. He's a lively talent for sure.
I also think him shifting to behind the striker may have had something to do with why we bought Markovic and Lallana. that's a huge problem with most football fans these days, willing to throw an 18 year old under the bus after one or two bad games. same thing with Hendo, Allen, Sakho, Migs, and im sure many of the players we signed this summer will get the same treatment at some point.

I always stuk up for the lad mainly because of he's age. Very difficult at a young age to remain consistent especially in your early years of learning the game. Credit to him for proving the doubters wrong. One of our most important players and almost our barometer that if he plays well, we generally play well as a team and get good results.

To be fair to people knocking him, he did seem like a little Bertie Big boll0x a few seasons ago. He got his England call up and his new contract and seemed to go off the boil. Fair play to him though for realising he hadn't already made it and has become one of the best in the country. I remember that thread of Faz's and if I'm not mistaken it was before his new contract... that's why people were kicking off (I think) He was stalling or asking for more dosh or something.. we'd only just dealt with more Suarez rumors and the general consensus seemed to be "fuckk him, he's poisonous"

he was poor there today..still young tho and has good pace just dont see it emp he is a myth sadly . Terrorizing Man City defenders away last season was not a myth, it happened. As EMP has said, he's already scored some winner for us. Last season he was a revelation, but he's young and he lost form. It happens, especially with young players. He didn't just become [oops]. He need some lower pressure games to develop. Lend him to Swansea or a club similar. sorry mate i havent seen anything from him , for me he is a myth , doesnt cross the ball , doesnt go past defenders , not a goal threat , doesnt even have a trick that 99.9% of decent wingers have . Terrorising defenders ? Raheem ?
You have to go a long way back to remember that I am sure it did happen once but way too little and way too infrequent. He is just about a squad player no more biggest hyped none entitiy I can remember.

I also think him shifting to behind the striker may have had something to do with why we bought Markovic and Lallana. At the beginning of his first full season (2 seasons back) he was great and I even said here that he was second to Gareth Bale as a winger (looked like a fool then), however, he really regressed which was quite drastic and difficult to understand, then hecomes back and is among the best around. Maybe he was going through a difficult patch I don't know, hopefully that doesn't come back.

He appears to have got over himself somewhat, and is settling down into a potentially great player, so credit to him and also Rodgers for keeping his feet firmly on the ground. Has the potential to become an Anfield legend if he can continue his development trajectory.

The thing to watch out though is how he deals with the anti-Sterling plan other teams are going to come up with. This is one of the reasons why Coutinho has been struggling after a more than brilliant first half of the season.

He seems to be overcoming this with his pace and foot skills. They can try to tag him out of the game but I think he's too good for many who come his way. The rest of our team need to help him overcome this as well.
