Agree, he would be a huge improvement on Borini and Lambert

Yeah just hope I am standing nearby when he handing out cash and a lot further away when he is playing with fireworks.

if this deal goes through does that mean that the Falcao deal is dead? I have a feeling that we might still sign both. Sturridge, Falcao, Balotelli and Lambert would give us all the options we need and we could win the league.

I am still having arguments with myself whether he would br a good signing or not so God knows what debates lie ahead for us on here.

He can win games and that puts him up there with Sturridge and Sterling for me. If BR can get the very best out of him it would be the signing of the summer.

There are lots of negatives but one certainty is it will spark debate and arguments for a long time to come.

I still think we need 4 strikers and I always thought the Falcao thing was a very expensive loan deal anyway. And we would have still needed one more if Borini was sold.
However if we got Mario and sold Borini a gamble on a loan player even as capable as Falcao is a whole lot more money gone.
I would be happy to go with 3 strikers and sign Reus or even Shaqiri.

He undoubtedly has a great talent, and in the last 5 years scored 60 goals in 134 games in the premier league and seria a, which is a great record. The main question is whether he's matured at all with age? I haven't heard of him causing too much trouble recently, so maybe he's calmed down and BR could get the best out of him.

It's definitely a gamble, if he starts acting up it could disrupt the whole team

Agreed! Also the more i think about it, i get the impression even though a lot of people would have probubly kept Suarez even after biting again just because he was SO good, yeah Baloteli gets in a fair bit of trouble, but its normally fun, and i dont think he has ever done anything half as bad as biting someone, and there is no doubting that he has the ability to be one of the best players in any league when he wants to be, so i dont think im gonna mind him being around.

and on the whole 4 strikers debate, i think BR will be happy with 3 and then use Sterling up top if we are ever really desperate, he seems to like playing him as a second striker, and to be fair he is decent at it!

I wonder how high Balotelli ranked on a list of transfer targets at the start of the summer because this really seems to have come about out of desperation to me. I really hope to be proven wrong but I just can't see this working, he's extremely similar to Berbatov in that it's ALL about him & if things aren't going his way he mopes around looking totally uninterested. Balotelli represents almost the complete opposite to the ethos Rodgers has instilled.

That's a very good post and you are right but unfortunately we are desperate I guess it depends on the type of contract he is offered. A four year lucrative contract would clearly be insanity but something shorter with more flexibility might make sense in our current position and he does have talent and he would fit into our set up playing wise it's just he is a [oops]
