First the departure of Suarez and the arrival of Marko should see the 4-3-1-2 less and the 4-3-3 more often

------------------Migs-----------------

Flanno-Lovern-Sakho-Moreno

--Hendo---Steven-------Can---------

--Marko---Sturridge---Raheem--

Obviously we have the changes at the back, but IMOO these are not the only changes for the sake of defense, another major change would be Can, who I think will become a regular, in the last few games his tendency to run forward is being checked by Rodgers, last season it was just Hendo doing the Job, this time it will be 2 center midfielders hassling in the middle of the park

The 4-3-3 also means the 2 wingers have the regular job of tracking the opposition full-backs, last season it was a complicated rotation that the players failed to sustain, but now the responsibility is simple.

And that's my take

Last season it was clear the problems are big and not just about a player or 2, it seems Rodgers realized this and the solution is both in players and formation.

Pretty good team. I think I'd have Manquillo playing over Flanno, but I agree that our defensive line looks much better. We have some attacking fullbacks and decent back up and a lot of depth at center back. Once the backline gets settled, I think we'll see better performances out of Mignolet and more clean sheets. I think we will still allow goals because of the offensive-mined way we play, but I think it will be much better. It's nice to see that we have some decent width for once! Not only do we have Manquillo and Moreno going forward but we've got Sterling, Markovic, Lallana, and Ibe to play as wingers cutting in.

If you think he's gonna drop Stevie for the opening match, you're more daft than I thought.

I would play Lallana as a winger and Marko in the middle. That said, I don't think we'll have one preferred team but Sterling, Coutinho, Lallana, Markovic and Hendo picked up for 3 positions just off the centre forward, Hendo also being able to play in a more center midfield position.

I'd be surprised if Moreno went straight into the team against Southampton, I think Johnson will be playing, not sure on which side though.

I think you're right vish, the number of games and the depth of the squad have changed. We'll see more rotation, but a few players will be fixtures.

This is going to be Phil's year, I think. He's had time to adapt to the league and he's been improving a lot. Been our standout preseason player hands down. He's also got a major point to prove, being left out of the Brazil squad, and all the interviews he's given make it seem like he's really hungry and determined. Streling will continue to rise to prominence as well.

I think Skytel will start for a few games, but when he has his next meltdown, I think Sakho will be phased in and Lovren will be shifted to RCB. While I think Manquillo and Moreno will start, Flano and Enrique will get regular games.

I also think Markovic, Ibe, Lambert, Lallana, Allen, and Suso will get games and even starts, especially Lallana and Marlovic.
