and benfica were poxy last night, lets be honest. if they really had've gone for us after they scored we could have been dumped out. [/quote]
What exactly were Benfica doing on the pitch if they weren't planning on "going for us?" Surely we had something to do with the fact they couldn't break us down?!

lucas we've all seen the depth of our convictions this year (i.e. not very deep) and when we are put under pressure we tend to buckle. there's not a liverpool fan alive that has his finger nails or doesnt suffer from chronic squeeky bum.
my point was that if benfica had shown a little more belief, desire and organisation they could have got another goal, then sat back and cruised their way into the semi's.
dont mistake their failings for our strengths.

Maybe we had more belief, desire and organization. Surely that's a strength in us. I know it hasn't always been the case this season but when we do put in a good performance it's normally put down to the opposition weaknesses rather than our play.

ok thats probably a fair point.
just consider this for a second... that second free kick clips the head of torres and beats reina into the goal. benfica sit back and our shakey belief starts to quiver as defeat looms. we have a few ooo's and ahhhh's but no goals, fifteen minutes later we are out. it was that close IMO. how would our season have looked then? thats what my problem is, we are inches and seconds from disaster all the time.
