On the other hand I don't get too excited when we have a set piece because we rarley score from them!! Many of them barely create a scare for the opposition!

That's because Xabi takes them. We need someone who can hit them well with the right foot. Maybe Rafa needs to get them practising more.

For someone whose passing is so good, Alonso is one seriously bad set piece taker, his free-kicks are on a par with Gerrards corners for woefulness.

We are possibly the worst team in the league from corners, we have no-one who can take them consistently well and even if we did, with the exception of Sami and to a lesser extent Torres, no-one who will go through a crowd to try and get there head on it anyway.

Get Carra to take them! wink joking a part he has played some wonderful long balls into the forwards lately.

Aurelio is a good bet for the leftside and right hand in-swingers but as for a right footer... can only think of Gerrard and Alonso and they aint great smirk plus I'd prefer seeing Gerrard in the box at corners anyway - he's wasted taking them.

Aurelio has taken some recently and been as poor as the rest, he should be better as his free-kicks are excellent.

Gerrard doesn't seem to like being in the box from corners/freekicks, he either takes them or lingers on the edge of the area.

Why don't we try someone like Lucas for a change or even Masch. The only thing I get critical with Rafa is that he tends to flog a dead horse alot with his tactics. Sometimes you just need to cut your losses, like he did with Keane. If it isn't working, Change it. If the quality isn't there on set peices, give it to someone else to take.

Bugger it, just get Reina to take them! grin

What about Riera or Benayoun? Maybe even Kuyt...he doesn't have to control the ball because it's already stationary!! ha ha

Kuyt isn't accurate enough and I don't think Yossi is that strong in this department either. Maybe we need to train on it cause we obviously aren't.
