Unless he comes out and states that there is no chance he's leaving.

once his clause is triggered, no one would offer a penny more for him. Why would they?

how does a bidding war work then?
2 teams want to buy the same player and they offer the same money surely that creates a stale mate???
The only way to break that would be for one club to bid more than the other...
Its the same scenario Seville are trying to create in the Moreno deal except for the fact they cant find someone else to bid against us

Why the hell would either team bid more than the amount that we have to accept a bid at?

Not quite. Let a say the clause is 50 mil. 2 clubs offer that amount, LFC has to accept both bids and Luis decides where he wants to go. Bidding wars occur when the player doesnt have a release clause or has an unrealistic one.

I don't think so, i believe that if the fee is triggered, we have to accept. I could be wrong...but i think we have to accept any bids that meet the release clause.

No, if either team trigger his release fee, even if one offers more for whatever reason, we would have to accept both and Luis would decide

Edit - unless there is a provision in his clause to stipulate such an occurrence but I can't imagine he would want one inserted as such

Everyone knows that Luis has flirted with RM in the past.
So you think Barca would be happy to stick with offering the same as RM and hoping Luis chooses them??
Surely they would do everything they can to land him...
They would be able to go euro for euro in terms of wages

Otherwise things would get ugly. Let's say Barca really wants Luis and Real doesn't. Barca offers 50 and we contact real and tell them to bid 100 to drive the price up even though they have no real intention of signing him. So we accept reals bid who drag out negotiations only to say they failed to agree personal terms after the deadline passes. So real have now stopped their rivals from signing a top player by placing a higher bid even though they had no intention of signing him, or they have forced Barca to pay way above the realistic value for a player. Win win situation for us and real.

They could offer him more wages but in terms of offering us more money than RM, if RM offer enough to trigger his release clause, they will be able to negotiate with him regardless of Barca's bid
