Chelsea don't play to a strikers strength. So Costa will be very average in that team.

Fabregas is replacing lampard. Who hardly played. They have class in every position but you can only play 11 at any one time.

There will be a lot of unhappy players there next season. And if they are trophy less again. With horrible football on offer. Then Jose will be gone.

he was always a good player tho, falco was just number 1. costa is perfect for mourinho and they will be much better than last season. atm i think we are not as serious as them. we need to get serious. begovic and coleman should be our main targets

Costa seems like a late bloomer to me. Or a one season wonder. He may be perfect for Chelsea but they won't play to his strengths.

I'm not bothered about which striker heads where because as long as we have Suarez and Sturridge. I'll be happy

On the other hand, we have Torres who was prolific for us. But at 40 mil, i don't know whether he is really worth it. I figure that for 40 mil, we could buy Jay Rodriguez, Lambert, Bony, Remy and perhaps even Dzeko...thats 4 or 5 strikers, who I am sure would give us more options and contribute more than Costa would per season.

Chelsea like to splash their cash, but many of their players have not been worth their transfer fees, starting with Torres. Willian has been solid so far, but 30 million, nowhere near proving he is worth that much. Eriksen cost less than half of that and has been equal in terms of performance.

Chelsea seem to buy a lot of popular players, at high prices and try to exploit their marketing value and popularity. We seem to go for less known players and try and build up their reputations.

In reality, neither approach is perfect, and a balance is needed between the two, but I would say we are moving closer towards that balance. Also, with Brendan Rodgers, I think we have a manager who will prove with time, that he is better than Mourinho, he just needs a bit more experience, but he has a much better footballing philosophy and personality than Maureen does and before long Chelski will implode, mainly because of Mourinho and the big attitudes around the club.

Thanks Ninja. The best post I have read on here in a long time.

I haven't a problem with BR's approach. There is something far more rewarding about a Championship team built on talented youth, hunger, value and tenacity with the odd Lambert thrown in.

This appears to be the philosophy both FSG and Rogers have chosen and IF it succeeds we will be up there for a long long time not some flash in the pan Leeds disaster.

As of now the summer is going well and the mistakes learnt from. Little to complain about in my book.

That's fair enough I guess. But when arsenal who are also notorious for nurturing young players and not wasting money on transfers and buying "smart" can attract big name players and high profile champions league acquisitions like ozil podolski etc etc and now maybe hulk don't you think there will come a time where they will have to bite he bullet and put their money where there mouth is. I do. I think too add real quality some times you have to dig deep. You can't always wait for a player to develop or adapt. You can't always use the excuse that we don't have as much money. Sometimes the difference between Luis Alberto and eriksen is only 8-10 million so what's that about??? Spurs could t offer him champions league football so what is that all about?? People are way too scared to pull the owners up on things especially on the back of last season. Imagine if they dug a little deeper in the summer and January??? Who knows...

I'm speaking in general with this post but I have just used the descent news of fabregas and costa and compared them to our first 2 signings as examples.

There has been plenty of time in the past. In the last 3-4 years all I have is examples of fsg and Ian ayre messing shitttt up. What makes you think champions league will change that. Get moreno done. Get Shaqiri done and the. Then Get the big cheque book out
