Devod to hear that the plastic flag brigade are about to sign Diego Costa and Cesc fabregas. They both are top players and will add real quality to Chelsea's already pretty strong squad.
On the evening of us digesting the news that we have signed another player "emre can". It doesn't really compare if they both go on to sign for Chelsea. While it's not right to dismiss a player before he plays a game for us like emre can and even Rickie lambert if you want. I just thought it showed a big difference between the two teams negotiations and transfer targets.
Is it liverpool getting it wrong and targeting lower profile players?.... Is it that Chelsea just offer more money in wages and fees??.. or do you think the players would prefer to go to Chelsea with mourinho there and that attraction??....
It doesn't always work signing big players and paying over the odds but at the same time are liverpool going to compete for big players or/and can they compete for big players. Lambert/Costa.........Can/Fabregas.....
I think Rodgers has got a job on to sign a top top player this summer even with champions league football. I think he's struggled in the past and wiith more say over transfers recently signing his new contract , I would like to see at least 1 experienced quality marquee signing.
Interesting to see what you think. Also take Chelsea and the history out of it and just look at it from a neutrals point of view. I don't know who man city will be more worried about thus far. Also only sensible posts please...meltdown comes to mind with you guys sometimes.

Can’t disagree with you there JP, but it’s early days in the signing race, so we may...and I repeat may go for some proven quality before the window closes, but our record under FSG is hardly encouraging.

Our top signing looks to be Lallana

Don't really get what you're saying? Should we / can we compete with the chavs financially? Then no. We have to spend within our means without a sugar daddy oil barron to back us. Don't get what you want really.

Don't get what you want really. The Americans can afford more than we make out. Did you see the finance in for liverpool ending this season. Sorry I think they can afford an extra 10-15 million to complete for bigger signings. They'll need to as well at some point.

I agree with you that Costa and Fabregas are more of "high profile" players than Lambert and Can, but who is to say that high profile is what wins you games and titles? With the exception of Suarez and Gerrard, all of Chelsea's players (and manager for that matter) are more high profile than their Liverpool counterparts, and yet we finished above them in the table. A fresh vibrant Can could contribute more than A Fabregas who seems to be past his best and didn't exactly set La Liga alight last season. I say let's wait and see, and judge players by their performances rather than their reputations.

the thing i worry about is again BR's lack of giving a crap about the back , that is where the problems are with us. We need to be as strong as kompany, zabelta -ivanovic,terry ..we will never be tough enough until we ship about glen and get two mean machine fullbacks. moreno -seems to me a bit more of gamble, young and gifted but not hard as nails.
lambert looks like a good addition, lalanna would be too and Can i think is another punt on future. I would love it if we were going all out for mangela, filepe and coleman. if we spent 40-50 on getting them 3 we would be so much more of a force next year - instead we spending 40m(potentially) on attacking positions -and we are good at attacking anyways.

But in terms of impact and hitting the ground running I'd take a player like fabregas all day of the week just because he's played there. Do you think we will challenge again next season without real quality to actually challenge suarez sturridge and sterling/coutinho. Going forward we need another player in the same ilk as sturridge and suarez...who scores 20 plus goals. That's it. Then concentrate on the defence and keeping the midfield familiar
