Who would you have as captain if Stevie G wasn't captain. I would have Mascerano. I would like Rafa to come clean with Stevie's form this season and honestly tell us why it hasn't been consistent. Is it cos he's carrying an injury or is it true that he doesn't like playing in the same team as Lucas. If it is the latter then shame on him. You know Tommy Smith used to hate Emlyn Hughes but it didn't stop him giving 100% every match.

He is ambitious and very nearly left for Chelsea a couple of years ago- Koptalk said, if memory serves, that he'd gone at one piont. He is pretty much 30 and doesnt have many years left to play...
But he wants to be successful at LFC and I think if he thought he would be successful here he would stay, I think he loves the club.
Personally I'd say he has been poor- by his standards- this season.
Therefore the owners probably think it might be time to cash in on him as any value he has will on decrease and he may think this is pretty much his last chance to go elsewhere and win something...
I want him to stay - he is a great player when fully fit, proven to deliver at the highest level and his understanding with Torres is a massive asset to the club.
Yet given the dis-functional now of LFC, short term profit making ownership he will probably be sold this summer if the owners have their way. I truly hate to say this but Manure know the value of such things...
Torres will replace him as captain because he is a leader, the issue being of course can we fulfill Torres ambitions so that he wants to stay... and Torres is likely to be less than impressed if we sell Stevie G...
So the big question is- regardless of manager (to try to make the post slightly more interesting normal Mr Emp Souness) will there be any money to be invested in the team this summer?
In that I mean that the money raised from sales is ADDED to a decent amount to be invested in the team.
Given the big amounts that our competitors will be investing next season if we dont invest Koptalk is going to become a slit your wrists kinda venue next season...Emp will be a happy man - we may have a new manager but with our owners who will that be and will they be successful???
Looking at the last 20 years we can certainly go backwards very easily from here...
back to the Souness years... and Souness had a lot more money compared to what the current management is likely to have...

Every player goes through a season with poor form and sadly for us it was Gerrard's turn. I don't think he will leave because he is our best player and he is passionate about the club. Also i think he is the best man to captain Liverpool. I would prefer Carra as captain rather than Mascherano because he is not disciplined and gets sent off too much.
