Don't know if anyone's noted this - but Newcastles "walk out" today on 69 minutes looks worth tuning in for.

"Newcastle United fans, "angry and frustrated" by their team's poor season, are planning a 69th-minute walk-out protest during their final home Premier League match against Cardiff City on Saturday.

The Newcastle United Supporters' Trust (NUST) has passed a motion to boycott the last 21 minutes of the match when Newcastle will be attempting to avoid a seventh successive league defeat.

Organisers hope the protest will see a mass exodus of fans from St James' Park in the 69th minute, symbolic of the year 1969 when Newcastle last won a trophy; the Inter Cities Fairs Cup, the forerunner of the UEFA Cup and now the Europa League.

"As fans we have deep concerns at the direction Newcastle United is heading in, both on and off the pitch," said statement released by NUST. "The vast majority of supporters are angry and frustrated but are divided as to what, if anything, can be done to positively influence Mike Ashley and those who run the football club on his behalf."

Derby County are planning to explore the possibility of bringing a collection of loan stars on board permanently.

A successful campaign which has delivered a spot in the Sky Bet Championship play-offs and a shot at a return to the Premier League has been aided by the performances of those drafted in on short-term agreements.

The loan market has been used to the fullest, with the likes of Patrick Bamford, George Thorne and Andre Wisdom having helped to carry Derby up the second tier standings.

Steve McClaren has been suitably impressed by all three of his leading loanees, with the trio useful assets for the present but also hot prospects for the future.

Taking that into account, discussions will be held at the end of the season regarding full-time deals.

The success of those talks will, however, rest in the hands of parent clubs Chelsea, West Bromwich Albion and Liverpool.

First team coach Paul Simpson told the Derby Telegraph: "We know what we want, it is a case of seeing what the parent clubs want to do with their players.

"These are all discussions that we need to have over the coming weeks.

"I think they (the players) have shown they can fit into our group, fit into Derby County.

"As a football club, we have shown we can look after them properly and will try and teach them the way Steve McClaren wants to play."
