Although a point was all we needed I don't think It crossed my mind before the game to think oh lets play for a point.
We played to win, we couldn't and got caught out with a mistake, no one can account for that happening tbh, also to keep on winning was a tall order at the end of the day. We have been scared every game for a good few weeks now of our winning streak ending. Agreed, we played our own game and played to our own strengths, and as you say Lain, we only lost it due to a mistake that can happen to any player. I wonder what folk might say if we played defensive and conceded that way? No doubt some would say Rodgers chickened out. No it wasn’t the tactics that lost us the point it was just one of those mistakes that’s all. We should put it behind us and focus on our next game against Palace, and if we do that without recriminations, who knows we might well win it yet!

nah we can't just give up our principles..it was a bad slip .just an error. sucks tho cause chelsea are such an ugly team. i so hope they don;t win anything.

I agree we should have looked for the draw when it was obvious we didnt have the capacity to score. Mourinho loves to show BR how its done. You can tell by his body language that he thinks he is his master. and he is indeed. and BR is so submissive around him also. like a puppy infact. This game we should have looked at the big picture and treated it like stepping stone to the title and not a must win one-off.
Mourinho totally out-managed BR yet again by a country mile.

Was running that through my head , all day Monday....should we have parked the bus too , played for the draw etc etc but fair play t BR n our reds. They tried to play football in the only way they know how - attack , possession , passing game.
I think Rodgers n the reds won a few plaudits whereas Maureen (or was it Allardyce) lost a few.
Parking the bus doesn't win much long term. I still believe we've done immensely well and can improve even more.
Aint over yet....

Aint over yet.... Don't think anybody thinks we need to park the bus long term or even in a season. It's all about adapting your style to the opposition and the result you need, especially in cup competitions in Europe. You should not play one style no matter what, that's the point.

Tactics are based on what players we have and too be honest we lack the players to play plan b or c we lose players from midfield we don't have comparable replacements, if our forwards are off we don't have a quality back up striker , if coutinho is off we don't have a comparable back up, there ok against lower clubs but the top four is different we don't have a mid that can break the park the bus tactic it's been a weakness of ours for a long time and is still a thorn ! BR tried his best with what he had if any finger pointing needs doing it's at FSG for not bolstering us up for the business end of the season and it came back and bit us right where it hurts most didn't it ? Sixties, nobody is asking BR to play like Pep's Barca to breakdown Chelsea's defensive tactics, for this we definitely do not have the players. However, we could have chosen not to venture everybody in Chelsea's half as we did and play a draw, for this we had the players. Leaving our CB behind SG would have been good enough. But let's face it, BR is still a young manager doing very well, he'll learn.

Some people are too emotional while to win you need to also be calculating and cunning. which is true.I will still say it
