Absolutely wonderful 1st half, ran out of steam 2nd half. Showed he can be a terrier in the tackle too

Don't worry Growls,it's only Boris Johnson in drag.

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

said all along even when people were slating him this fella is a god. wouldn't swap him for nobody. at his age there has not been many better. will just get better and better. laughable he ain't in the brazil squad. he should be the captain and the manager, they would win the world cup with ease.

He did go through a dodgy spell but since you had a word with him he's become a lot stronger, was really impressed with him getting stuck in yesterday.

I said before the season started that people were going to be disappointed. Not because he's not a very good player, but because people were thinking he would be our Messiah at 21. It's not fair to put that kind of pressure on a kid like that. Defenders became aware of him and figured him out, and he had to adjust. Fans react too quickly, writing someone off as great or terrible too soon. Remember the stick Henderson, Sterling, and even Suarez have gotten in recent years?

Second season syndrome sounds kind of harsh, I think. It was more like the burnout/slump sterling had earlier this season and at the end of last. He just needed some time to rest and restore his confidence. This happens to players all the time. Look at Suarez's first full season after defenders figured him out. People were frustrated with him and moaned "he's jus not a natural finisher" and "he's selfish" and "he's good, but not great" and things like that all the time. I remember a thread on here called "Raheem the myth Sterling."

He had an excellent game yesterday, and it looks like his finishing has gotten much better. My expectations of him are about the same as they were. He's a very good little player who has the potential to be a great one. We'll see.

He made a few mistakes as well, most notably when he took a shot in the first half when he had options right and left of him.

What he doesn't seem to lack is an appetite for work and a desire to fit into whatever role is demanded of him. He is potentially a few years from his peak and has vision on the ball that no amount of experience can give so I have relatively high hopes for him going forward.

His progression as a player is once again a testament to rodgers and his coaching staff

Suarez, Sterling, and Sturridge made mistakes too. I agree though, he's got a few year before we really know what he'll turn into.

So does every player. All players go threw patches no matter how good they are. Some people expect players to be brilliant all the time. It doesn't happen especially at 21 years of age. I've seen enough of him to see that he has been one our best signings in a while.
