I think he gets given a hard time by a lot of people on here. I think he was an absolute steal at £8m and would be worth almost double if we sold him. Yes I agree he is like Luis Garcia minus the goals but he has far more awareness and skill. Luis Garcia was my favourite player whilst he was with us and Coutinho is one of my favourites now. He seems at his best in the centre of the pitch but our higher tempo means we are a bit more direct. Looking back he always seems better when we play one up front but two up top is rightfully how we should play.

He has had to adapt more than most I think to the system. When he first came he was electric. The end of last season and start of this he was on fire and we only played one up front. There is a place for him but I think he will take his chances when he gets them. He is still learning the English game but in the centre he looks like he has more time than most players. Such players are hard to find.

i reckon he will just blow up and become player of the season in 3-4 years time, probably suffering second season sydrome at the moment. if he can repeat what he did in his first half season for liverpool in a full season he will then be considered world class

Fantastic little player on his day. 8 million to me looks a steal how he is right now, regardless of the potential.

Both him and Sturridge for 20 million must be the bargain of the century, considering that Fellaini and Mata cost united over 60 million.

Coutinho has a long way to go before he is our version of David Silva. if we had more midfielders to select from he would be benched more often which would actually be good for him. Would give him a bit of a rest and more motivation to work hard and make less errors when he is getting game time.
Its easy to forget how thin the squad is.

The question to ask is how good was David silva at Coutinho's age? Some people need to realise that great players only become great after 100's of hours playing football at the highest level.

You only need to look at teams like everton and Southampton and see that when young players are given time to play and improve in the pitch they become very good players. On the other hand the players that join Chelsea or City and sit on the bench through their early 20's never make it at the top level.

We all need to give young players years not months.

The reason we see him dipped down is because he showed best of him in half of the last season.

He has been an average player but we expect greater from him. He needs to work on his long range shots and finish because he has been missing couple of chances.

However the winner against City has certainly shown what he could do, he need to continue shots and should find target.
