exactly. Fergie left no legacy. They talk of continuity but Moyes came in and got rid of Fergie's backroom staff. Their only option now is to spend, spend, spend... something that will be a huge risk with a manger at the helm who has no track record in managing big players or winning trophies.
I still fear that they will change Moyes for a better manager and I am sure that this will happen in summer. Heard that they would go for Simeone and I think Laurent Blanc could also be a genuine contender if PSG does not extend his contract as they were waiting for Arsene Wenger. United still have sufficient resources to re-build, much much more than us.
this. utd wont go away because of one poor season. we need them to preform like this for the next seasons
agree with both except I suggest we should not fear anything. they've had greater financial resources than us for years... even during our best years. so in that respect, whatever will be will be.
But the current situation, esp if Moyes is replaced like Vish has suggested, does two things in my opinion:
1. It destroys the myth of continuity and claims of '..the Manchester United Way' to back their managers. For goodness sake ... it was only one manager they backed over a long period. It's nothing like what we had with Shankly, Paisley, Fagan etc. There will be huge doubts now as to whether they're stiking with Moyes out of stubbornness or whether they genuinely believe he's the right man for the job. These doubts will probably going through the players minds too.
2. Even if they get a new manager and can spend, it will take a lot of hard work and luck too build the side up again. Not saying it won't happen... but it will become more and more difficult as time passes, even with the financial resources they have.
