Some interesting stuff said by Evans and Barrett recently.

-Sturridge was originally vetoed by Rodgers the summer before we signed him. This caused the board to lose faith in him in the market.

-Aspas and Alberto weren't Rodgers' signings.

-Rodgers wanted defenders last summer and was left disappointed when the transfer committee focus seemed to be on an attacker.

-Rodgers is negotiating a new deal. Very likely he asks for more control re. transfers.

-Board want to sanction big spend in the summer.

I don't know if its true or not but BR must have less control over transfers than expected.

I'm not surprised. He was a young and relatively inexperienced manager coming in. After the recent transfer failures with the previous regime I'm not surprised that they were cautious in letting Rodgers have complete control over transfers. Hopefully he has now done enough to persuade them to let him have more control.

Don’t think i’d take much of that on board though Maxi, other than to say it’s been pretty clear for sometime that Rodgers is hamstrung by the committee system, and it’s got to go, or at least be greatly reduced in terms of control. I hope Rodgers now in a position of strength, will make that, and a change in the silly policy, a condition of his new contract.

Its still early times, but I can see Rodgers making it at Liverpool, big time. After all, this is only his second season at the club and he has already given us a personality that has been lacking for such a long time. Delicious attacking football, shitloads of goals, consistency and hunger to win. As he grows into his position, he will definitely have more and more say in the club. Once he wins us our first premier league title, whether it happens this season or not, there's no telling where he'll take us.
