I don't believe the article one bit. The players who want to play for Liverpool would have told their agents to shut the $&@! up and do the deal. And although Chelsea offered more money he would have played more for Liverpool.

There are all kinds of players in this world. Now we know what sort of person salah is.

I'm glad we didn't pay 15 million plus add ons for this unmotivated overhyped player. I look at coutinho and I don't think salah is twice as good

It's clear that we got Coutinho on a bargain and thinking that we will be as lucky all the time is naïve, as it was proven last summer. We will get it right every now and then but will also be wasting money in the process.

If we miss out on CL qualifications because we didn't strengthen due to extra few quid, how much will we lose out in the long run?

This is our best chance to get back to the elites. If we fail, suarez will leave and I shudder to think how much we'll fall further behind.

We will definitely lose out in the long run but not really in the short term. The club has been re-structured (lots of players sold or on loan, low transfer fees, additional commercial deals etc) to be able to be in the positive despite being out of CL. Suarez leaving will mean a big asset sold but money in, which will improve the financial situation even after buying players with most of that money. I think it's still not clear how FFP will influence the game and FSG would like to see how all this develops in the next 2 years to finalise their strategy, ie, sell, keep but invest to reach CL or just sustain with increased revenues with 15,000 seats bigger stadium. They are playing observe right now because they thought FFP will be clear cut.

If the negotiation had not been dragged out we would more than likely have the player at a reasonable price, 8mil was an insult, 11-12 mil would more than likely have got the business done back in December. His price only raised when the Chavs got involved. Basel are the only winners in this one, as Salah will be cooling his heals on the bench and the Chavs have a player that is nowhere near Mata in class and we missed out completely.

not many class players will be prepared to come to us and the ones we've got will want to go, not all players like Gerrard would stick around when there are more lucrative options available this was his boyhood dream that's the only reason we have hung on to him! So for me this year is super critical we get in the CL and our owners are treating like who gives dam anyway by there transfer antics ! No ambition shown at all on the park !

It's so obvious isn't it. Yet it amazes me how many fans out there can't see it.

They are becoming less and less by the hour.

Chelsea are winners too as they were not playing Mata but only as a substitute and they recouped enough money for Matic who has strengthened them and a young promising player according to our great transfer committee. Mourinho is a genius.
