Baseball and premiership football are totally different sports.
More than any sport money talks in football
It's no accident all the successful clubs are also the wealthiest. Baseball is primarily a national sport football is truly global to be honest baseball is the sport where money generally talks loudest compared to any other. That is why the Yankees have only missed a handful of postseason berths in the last 20 years. ... and that is about as relevant as England being bum phucked in the Ashes !

They were always fairly upfront that Liverpool would be self financing in the main Did you miss the bit about "having the resources to compete with anyone in football" ? Actually, he didn't lie. Him and his "StingRay puppet" Henry have got the resources. They just forgot to tell us that they weren't going to spend it on the club! A bit like a Nazi saying "here's a bar of soap for the shower!"

They can say what they want, we don't have the resources to compete with Man City or PSG for example nor Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.
Liverpool are being run on a self sustaining basis. That was made clear when they first took over the club.
Their "resources" seem to be locked up in assets more than liquid cash so don't bother linking that Forbes article

I guess it's only fair I say what kind of owner I would like rather than repeat myself as to why the ones we have are wrong.
I like an owner who is a fan first of all. Someone who knows the club and it's history. Someone who's hairs still stand on end at the thought of Istanbul.
I know at the time Hicks and Gillette got some stick but on reflection, they only wanted the best for the club.
Managers I admire for their honesty, Dave Whelan, Kenwright, Daniel Levy... Not that I would want any of these as our owner. I'm just saying that they come across as wanting the best for the club.
Ideally, we need a billionaire who's prepared to invest rather than a billionaire who is running the club like a millionaire !

Henry, greeted by the cheers of waiting fans, declared himself "proud and humbled" to be the club's new owner. "We have a lot of work to do and I can't tell you how happy I am that we've finally got to this point," he said. He was unwilling to commit himself on plans for investment in new players or in a new, larger stadium. "It's too early to say what we're going to do," he said, "but obviously we're here to win and we'll do whatever is necessary." http://www.theguardian.com/football/2010/oct/15/liverpool-sale-nesv-takeover-john-henry

Please take a look at this list, and tell me how many times Baseball is listed on there. Please take a look. Its a business they are running, they know when to invest and when to not. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_sports_contractsI see our football (association football in the list) listed a mere 3 times. Compare that to Baseball itself.

I would still prefer to have FSG over Mansoor and Abramovich. The Red Sox were in turmoil last year as well, you should look into the type of deals done by the Red Sox, including slashing player salaries by $150mill over a course of 5 years. Yet, they still ended up winning the World Series. Wait for it. You will see what they can do. You would prefer FSG based on something they did in baseball? But both Abramovich and Mansoor have already done better than FSG in the EPL over the 3-4 years they were owners, unless we win the league this season. If Abamovich wants to go in Baseball, he probably would do better than FSG.

Please take a look at how finances work at Chelsea. Please go do an in depth look at how their loans are handeled and you will realize that if Abramovich were to walk out tomorrow morning, Chelsea would be in such a turmoil that it MAY BE be too hard to handle. Please go do research and if you cannot find anything, let me know and I will give you information, including sources (not wikipedia) and show you how it works.
