I can't make up my mind if I like this thread or not I did at first, but then I hated it all of a sudden, but I'm wavering towards positivity again now.

I was just thinking if the team show some consistency then maybe us fans will do the same with our support.? Mind you we may be consistently moaning at losses or consistently smiling at wins, tolerance is needed whichever us lot feel at the time I suppose LOL. I wouldn’t complain much or give vent to annoyance if we’d lost away to Spurs, or if we lose away to city and/or Chelsea in the upcoming fixtures, providing we give a good account of ourselves, and not make silly mistakes and tactical decisions. I’m sensible enough to know we’re unlikely to win all our away games to such well financed opposition. However if we lose to Cardiff either at home or away, I’ll be screaming from the roof tops! I know we haven’t got the strongest squad in the league, but it’s stronger than Cardiff’s or Hull’s, and defeats to those teams can only be the result of players and/or manager not performing to an acceptable level. In those circumstances I reserve the right, and indeed duty as a fan, to vent my spleen on all and sundry whom I deem responsible!

I can agree with the things you have said there, I can only speak for myself really but I can see some people get frustrated more than anything and need to point the blame myself included. I think most calm down after they have slept on it and analyse it with a clearer mind. I do agree that its ok to vent your anger at the right people especially as you say the team/management haven't performed on the day.

Its simple human nature. The fans' mood will go up and down with the team's results, but raising hopes to the sky or sinking underground based on the results of a couple of games borders on the ridiculous. And as for the losses against the Hull's of this world, these things will always happen in football and in sport in general. They are called upsets and every football team will have their fair share of them. Bayern Munich beat Barcelona 7-0 over two legs last season, but only after losing to Bate Borisov of all people.

Yeah I take your point on that Laine, It’s funny how things turn around though, a couple of seasons ago I was feeling very positive and even confident after FSG came in and made all those noise’s about rebuilding and winning things, and then appointed Kenny and financed the purchase of what looked like very good players. However the players didn’t perform as expected, kenny got sacked and FSG cut off the finance tap and adopted the silly policy. Since then every time I look at the squad I see a lot of cheap, light young players many of whom wouldn’t get anywhere near any of the top clubs. And still here we are in 2nd place, and after a brilliant performance against Spurs! I’m singing from the roof top’s, and yet I'm asking myself why am I not feeling more positive and confident about this squad’s future prospects? Am I underestimating the squad? Is Rodgers a genius? Is it all just accidental? Or is it all down to one player, Suarez, making up for all their deficiencies? Or are those deficiencies just in my own head? are they better than I think they are? And finally should I just relax and accept what comes, uncritically, be it good or bad, as inferred by the op?

Hercules, you have spoken very eloquently and very honestly on behalf of many people in here, I think.

There have been so many inconsistent performances by the team and by individuals. So may "false dawns" also. Thats why many of us are excited one week and pizzed off the next. I dont see that as being disloyal or fickle. give us consistency and give us success and we will be consistently praising the players and the team.
its been too long between drinks. we need to win the league.
