its not about right or wrong, but i will make the observation that there is a long way to go, something you are ignoring. i will also refer to the many times that i said i would be delighted for rogers to prove me wrong.

i will also observe the abusive, derogatory fashion with which people refute my point, which only suggests that i am hitting a nerve. its not enough to simply "believe" we are on our way, it has to be true.
All the man said is "WOW". He never said we're winning the title or conquring Europe. What is the point of being a football fan if you can't enjoy your team winning 5-0 away to one of their rivals?

I was considering starting a thread titled better without Gerrard? Instead of this thread, but it's way too early too say that. But today I was very impressed with the midfield, we completely bullied spurs off the ball.

Me too. Stevie doesn't offer much going forward these days and it seems hungrier players are on the bench.

As you say, it's too early to say and don't want to over-react, but you wonder if SG not being there releases people like Henderson/Allen. We'll find out I guess.

Alberto looked like he had a good few minutes too.

You have to wonder if BR feels like he has to play SG when fit? Maybe this is a blessing, time will tell.

Well it’s great that we can play like that without Gerrard, I thought Henderson and to a lesser extent Allen were impressive in the centre today, with Henderson going box to box. However you have to take into account the fact that the Spurs midfield and defense never turned up today. and were there for the taking.
Now I’m not taking anything away from our outstanding performance, by saying that, we still had to go there and perform, and it was brilliant and most encouraging. However against a midfield and a better organized defense, we would still need Gerrard’s through passing to unlock them and get ball to the front players.
Als credit to Rodgers for getting everything spot on for this match.

Time will tell, but if our midfield closes down and bullies people off the ball like today we'll have no problems.

Gerrard has still had a pretty good season, I just don't think he should play 90 minutes every game. His legs seem to give out after the 60th-70th minute or so. His set pieces have been boss, and he's bagged several assists. He adds another dimension to us when he pulls the strings, but with Allen in, we had more pace and energy, which totally overpowered Spurs. I think for some games, Gerrard is a must. For some games, it might be better to rest him.
