But thats like telling Suarez not to carry on after the horror tackle he had on Saturday. If England was like the other countries not one player would think about not playing. It just seems that England as Team seems like Joke to other Managers and Fans

There’s no comparison between a player running off an injury during a match and a player repeatedly carrying an injury into match after match.
England are a victim of over expectation, poor performances and a gutter press, pity but that’s where they’re at.

This wont be the first or last time but I would say 90% of players aged 28 and below would/have played through injuries.

Agreed, and unfortunately that’s the folly of youth, as they say you can’t put an old head on young shoulders.

The thing is he's been playing through the pain barrier for LFC for weeks. If he can do it for club, why not for country? If he was rested for Liverpool games prior to the England game then I think there is an argument to say he shouldn't have played for England but if LFC are prepared to risk him for match after match then the club only has themselves to blame.

That’s true and it raises question marks about Rodgers that he blithely put his own short term interests ahead of promising young players long term career.

Roy knew what he was doing the fool, rejecting him from the executive suit didnt go down well...plus sacking him!

We would have about 14pts and be 9th in the league if it wasn't for sturridge so i'll let this occasion pass.

Sturridge is young and eager so I don't blame him for wanting to play for England, its not the best way to nurture an injury but it happens.
If Brendan has the authority to stop him playing for England whilst injured in order to preserve him for LFC that's one thing but if he doesn't have any say over it then the best thing is to have a quiet word with Danny about those worries not broadcast the disagreement all over the press.

The thing is (and its the same for sg or any player) if your injured your not being released to play. If your injury free then fine.
If it was me I'd love to play for my country injured or not BUT the decision shouldnt be his to make

Its out of the players hands these days. International Teams can assess the players injury even if the club says his injured.

Remember gerrard also played with injections into his back. Sturridge has been unlucky injuries
with England and not yet a shoe in for Brazil , playing like he did shows commitment to the cause. I do not blame him for that.

Agreed, but wasn’t it Sturridge who spoke to the press, not Rodgers? Yes I wouldn’t blame a young player for wanting to play for England, even if carrying an injury, we all did foolish things in our youth.
Rodgers is obviously compromised by repeatedly playing him for Liverpool while injured and would’ve looked hypocritical if he’d tried to stop him, that the price he pays for being selfish at the risk of a young players career. I would have expected more from Rodgers and it could affect our ability to attract young academy recruits under his tenure in the future.
