The new rules that the FA are following were in part agreed with the referees. That did not want their authority eroded any further and so if they had dealt with a confrontation during the match they did not want it revisited again by the FA. If suarez did his bite today and the ref felt he had dealt with it at the time it would not be revisited. This is what the referees want . They are wrong but that is why the FA acted the way that they did. It's not a plot, not corruption just the new rules. Torres scratched his opponent. He did not gouge his eyes. Our society does not tolerate biting, eye gouging and spitting. Scratching is what girls do. Robbie was right.
Well it looked like much more of a gouging that a scratching to me, did you not see how far his fingers were sunk and the contortions on the victims face? Scratching my aRse that was gouging. And hiding behind an soft interpretation of so called new rules wont wash I’m afraid. The yawning chasm between the treatment of Terry and Suarez for the same offense previously, and now between Torres and Suarez for two cases of what would be described as violent behaviour raises serious questions about how the rules are being applied. And all the more so when even retired Ref’s are condemning these blatant inconsistencies, then there’s a case to be answered I would think.
