Torres escapes a ban for the scratching / gouging incident over the weekend.

Yes it was handbags and did not draw blood but so with Suarez.

Can anyone explain to me how one is a ten match ban and one is brushed aside ?

I just don't get it

To me gouging is far worse and far more likely to do permanent damage.

the FA have no credibility! it's proven time and time again that they prosecute the man not the offence. can you imagine what they would have done if that was Suarez?

also after Suarez was done for the biting incident they said it would not have mattered if the ref had seen it or not because if they feel an incident is worthy they will over rule the refs red or yellow card and impose there own brand of justice.

The FA just make it up as they go along. After Maureen's rant about Vertongen (like his players never try and get others sent off) the FA probably didn't want to upset him any more.

Perhaps gouging is more socially acceptable? I remember at the time of the biting, we were all saying that if Suarez had punched Ivanovic in the face, there wouldn't have been the uproar there was. It's more socially acceptable and happens in towns and citys every weekend.

Also, where was the press outrage at the incident? Southern based press and a southern based team so no coverage.

Could it be racial, I wonder? Torres is from Europe, Suarez is from Latin America! If not that, I wonder what else it can be?

“Ye congregation of the tribes,
On justice do you set your minds,
And are ye free from guile and bribes
Ye judges of mankind?”

That was written around 250 years ago, it could’ve been written yesterday!

The new rules that the FA are following were in part agreed with the referees. That did not want their authority eroded any further and so if they had dealt with a confrontation during the match they did not want it revisited again by the FA. If suarez did his bite today and the ref felt he had dealt with it at the time it would not be revisited. This is what the referees want . They are wrong but that is why the FA acted the way that they did. It's not a plot, not corruption just the new rules. Torres scratched his opponent. He did not gouge his eyes. Our society does not tolerate biting, eye gouging and spitting. Scratching is what girls do. Robbie was right.

but the panel they set up was supposed to be for exactly these things. the ref admitted he didn't see it.
