Our midfield issues are much the same, but I had no problems with the back line at all. Toure Skyrtel and Sakho were all solid, and the wing backs were fine. We just keep giving the ball away carelessly. All in all, happy with the win. We just look more dangerous with Suarez.

I was just ecstatic to see BR show some balls finally and start with 3 at the back and 2 proper strikers even though we were away from home.

I think he figured out, we didn't have a creative replacement for the attacking mid position played by Coutinho, sp he said, screw it, we'll play without an AM.

We found another way to win against a bruising side. Well done. We gave the ball away a lot especially in advanced positions. Our attackers are not too worried about giving the ball away and this will happen more and more with Suarez as he tries more and more things. Important that when this happens that the players in midfield are snuffing out attacks and killing them off to allow players to get back.

Great to get 3 goals and to score in the second half. Lots more energy and we have got players out of position who have struggled but in the end it was enough. This is because they were better than the opponents man for man.

Against a lot of teams we would not get away with what we did today. But to be fair we won't play like that against everyone.

We are 2nd without setting the world alight. This team can only get better and the players to come back in will improve us more again.

That's true! Let's hope we get a lot better after the international break.

sunderland played us off the park in the 1st half. we have a period in the second half where we looked like the top team but apart from that we were second best.

lucky to get three points. dont really see the point in playing with three CB

Agreed.

One week I watch us and think BR is instilling a Barcelona-esque tiki-taka philosophy. The next we look like a mid-table club with Suarez, Coutinho and Sturridge. The reality is we're somewhere in between, but it's winding me up a treat.

I would prefer us to play to a system - the way BR talks about the game, playing a high-lined 4-3-3 and giving Alberto and Sterling much more game time, and [oops] the opposition. But I think again this season BR has tried the way he wants to play in the first few games (we were outstanding against Stoke and in the first halves of Villa and Swansea) and now bottled it after a couple of poor performances/half performances.

The reality is we don't currently have either (a) the players or (b) the confidence to play a possession-based game for 90 minutes (especially when we have a slim lead). Personally I think we have the players, but we're lacking the confidence in them. As such, we're putting out more defensive line-ups and playing on the counter like we did for most of last season.

I am not happy with it. But we are quite good at it to be fair - and we do have Suarez, Coutinho and Sturridge who can create/score out of nothing.

I always said that any good manager should adapt his style according to the players he has, any other way is suicidal. Was very unhappy with BR in the first half of last season as he would prioritise his style over players and we were so vulnerable defensively, something that he has sorted out since which is good.

That said, I expected him to bring in more players who would fit his system and when I look at yesterday's starting line up, Sturridge and Moses are the only 2 players that one could argue were brought in for Tiki Taka (not too sure though).

Anyway a win is a win which is great and I cannot discuss the game as I unfortunately couldn't watch.
