Success in football is correlated by much more than profitability. As for the fan-based ownership. Pretty sure that is always possible, so long as you have a fan base with money. It is a pipe dream right now though while FSG are sorting stuff internally.

That's absolutely fine. But don't expect Liverpool to challenge for the title in your lifetime we will become a commodity for remote owners to buy and sell and make a return from the paying public. If that's the model you want then you have it so no issues. For myself I felt we needed owners with the resources to in effect gift money to the club for there is no other way we can catch up. When you look at net transfers vs the cash generated from sponsorship and commericial ooeratiins FSG have more or less spent nothing. I find that a bloody disgrace but that's just my opinion . I am one of those idiots who still wants Liverpool to win titles etc but I realised a long time ago the club lost its hunger but now the fans have settled into what we are. As dunk said expectations have been managed very nicely

Just because Dunk says so, doesn't mean it is the case. You may agree with him, but his opinion is that, just his opinion.

I do expect Liverpool to challenge for titles. There is an arc of progression we have to go through before we can get close. You can all delude yourselves with hope of moneybags owners, but your claim of realism of the situation is just undermining clear progress.

WHY IS THERE NO WAY?! It is the most defeatist, unambitious comment. I can't quite believe you're telling me my expectations have been managed, when you have already given up all hope. Difficulties are there to overcome, not bow too. It is more fans saying we'll never compete that will stop the club from getting anywhere!

If FSG have spent nothing, then the club is running much better?! Which means we have a foundation to build on. Come on. There is expecting the world... and there is EXPECTING THE WORLD.

Rome wasn't built in a day. And Liverpool FC's success wasn't built in 3 years... so give them some time.

Pessimist's vs optimist's is like cat vs dog. You won't ever have the same perspective, so you'll always have a completely different view of the subject.

How is basing your opinion on research into the owners and progression historically for comparable clubs optimistic..? It is as close to objectivity as possible. The opinions I've heard over and over again have had no justification or foundation in things that have happened recently or over a long period of time.

I like debate. I like when people bring justifications to their opinions. People just aren't and I get really wound up by it. I can't help it at times. Idealisations are just that...

It was built with wealth though. I have been to Rome and the emperors built huge stadiums with entertainments for the masses to watch. And how does rusty old Anfield fit with that?

Try another analogy

ok mr jmelling stato

Give me your 5 year plan for FSG to get us the title.

And your horizon for champions league and how.

This will be interesting.

I don't need to but I will "SPark"-y. There is money well-invested. And there is money wasted. Titanic cost a fortune, and sank. Rome cost a fortune and still stands. Pisa Tower is now Leaning. You can use all the analogies in the world, but dismissing my points is just disregarding justified opinion. It is all built on foundations, and ours were crumbling before FSG arrived, and stable 3 years in. Want quicker progress by all means, just don't try to convince those that are being realistic in thinking it might take more than just money and impatience.

Why? Are you genuinely interested or are you just asking sarcastically? It is difficult to tell.

The next couple of months will be big ones for FSG, in the next week or so we will see their intentions as far as investment in the first team goes. Then soon afterwards we should get some more info on the redevelopment of Anfield. Both could go either way at the moment (my opinion) but it will go a long way to convince most people if they are the right owners for liverpool or not.

Time will tell, I agree with a lot if what jj is saying, but I'm still on the fence about FSG and their real intentions.
