If we are now expected to swallow FSG are being penny pinching because of the good of the game and trying to stop excess commercialism then thats beyond laughable. The fact is the modern game is based on money.

Liverpool i feel have owners who are quite satisfied where we are to exploit the brand and fan base. Its quite simple money invested vs return and they are happy with what they have.

But as fans we can expect to win nothing for years except maybe FA or Carling cup which will paper over the cracks.

How can anyone who purports to be a Liverpool fan be happy with this situation thats what I cant grasp we should all be as mad as hell and protesting

Yes but that would mean investing a lot of money and man city came into the equation. As Marko says the demand is such we fill Anfield a bit of marketing sponsorship and milk the situation is their game. They are not interested in success or champions league. Yes it will bring more revenue but at high risk and potential lower return. This strategy is low risk and maximises John Henrys financial return which is all we are now. An investment.

Increase commercial revenue, outline stadium development plan, promote club across social and other media platforms, decrease match day expenditure, reduce the average age of playing staff, slash the weekly wage budget??

Whoa, hold on Stanley, dont put words in my mouth. I NEVER SAID that they were spending less "for the good of the game". We are not idiots here, we all know they want to make money, obviously, but one of the byproducts of their approach is very good for the game. That's all, and surely as fans who continuously complain about the money that is involved in the game, you should be happy about that, that's all.

you cant complain about how money has ruined the game on one thread and then call for massive spending on another. Thats all i'm trying to understand.

I think everyone here is well aware that FSG are out to make some bucks, but i dont think that their approach is bad for LFC to be honest, i think we are a much healthier club than we were prior to them and that if you look at the whole picture, you would agree. Whether it is because they want to sell us off to the highest bidder makes no difference. We are currently a much better managed club on and off the pitch than we were prior to FSG, in my opinion of course. I wouldn't mind cities owners att all, dont misunderstand me, but i am happy with ours as things štand, although i feel that they have to invest more in the starting eleven during this window, otherwise they will have failed massively to capitalize on a real oppurtunity to leapfrog arsenal.

The way I see it Marko the troubles did not start with FSG they probably started in the late 80's and carried on into the 90,s when we criminally failed to capitalise on our dominant position back then. Our new stadium should have been started 25 years ago it was clear as day Anfield was not suitable and in the wrong part of Liverpool for the modern world. When Moores sold out we needed owners who would spend big very big hundreds of million maybe a billion. Thats the injection the club needed. Thats why I was so disappointed DIC or an arab owner did not come in.

I love your enthusiam and optimisim but if you think we will once again be a big club by finding players on the cheap whom no one has heard or or by the fans financing the stadium then I fear you will have a big disappointment.

In a way FSG are worse than Gillet and Hicks at least it was up front they were [oops] men these guys are much more subtle and clever.

But with FSG in charge I think we can expect no progress on the stadium (other than words) and proabably 6th or 7th place for many years ahead until they sell up.

Those are the hard facts Marko without money (and big money) you are nowhere in the modern game.

It would have made more sense, and they tried, they gave Kenny and Commolli over 100 mil to spend. We blew our chances. They aren't gonna pull out 100 mil every transfer window and neither would i.

but with silly guidelines that alerted every seller they could hold us to ransom and guess what they did! and did a b1oody great job at it too

but what is the problem with them not going above their own valuation this time round?
