HI all,

I would like to some of the posters on here to explain certain things to me. I want you to know that this is in no way a personal attack on anyone, but I will be singling out a few posters who have been the most vocal in their opposition to FSG and their methodical approach to running the club and their transer policy.

I have a few questions I would like you all to answer and something I would like you to explain. Stanley Park, Fazakerley Red, Vish Lfc, EMP, gnp-uk, Sixtiesred and of course, MIck Eire when he returns.

1. You guys have been very vocal on this forum about "modern day football/footballers" right? 2. You all are in agreement that the modern footballer is generally nothing more than a mercenary, is that correct? 3. You have all complained that the millions and millions spent on wages, transfers etc has ruined the game of football? 4.Stanley Park, you have said on several occassions that you would not mind LFC being in the championship if it meant ticket prices dropped and the club was returned to the people of the city,or made more available to common folk, is that right? 5. You have all stated, and I agree with you, that agents have too much power. 6. You have all stated, and I agree with you, that players also have too much power. 7. You all thinkk Carroll was a massive waste of funds 8.You all think the same about Borini and Downing. 9.Most of you have claimed that FSG are ruining the club, some have even gone as far as stating it is "rotten to the core".

SO I ask you the following, and please explain.

If money has ruined football, if that money now means football is no longer the peoples game, if players are whining girlies who make millions for running around a field and are way way overpaid, then WHY, do you guys, ask for FSG to splash millions on transfers? Why have you been calling so actively for FSG to open up the purse and throw cash at players? Why, when the committee come up with a valuation for a transfer target and refuse to go above it or overpay, do you guys say they are stingy and penny pinching?

Surely, they are being financially sensible, not willing to overpay or throw millions at players who aren't worth it. If they did throw millions around and weren't so stringent with their money, surely they would just be adding to the problem which "has destroyed football, distanced it from the fans and led to normal fans being forced out the game".

Surely, spending tens of millions of pounds in players in an inflated market would just contribute to everything that is evil within the game at the moment. How can you on side call for the game to be brought back to a level where it is available to the people and at the same time ask for the owners to just pour millions and millions down the pockets of players, agents and clubs? It makes no sense to me.

If anything, the incentive based contracts they introduced are perhaps one of the best things that could have happened to LFC in my opinion. Them forming a transfer commitee is another fantastic step in my opinion, where no one person will be able to splash funds on a target, the majority of the commitee has to agree. Surely this increases our chances of success.

Now, in regards to the latest Mkhitaryan and Willian transfers. If the board decided not to raise their offer and that they did not see value in an upped offer, then surely, that should be good enough for us. It is not one person deciding anymore but a comittee where the majority obviously agreed the deal did not represent value for money.

I have faith in the commitee and am very very happy with the calibre and type of players we have been linked with.

So, coming to the end of my post, as far as I am aware, so far, this window, we are sitting at about a zero on net spend or a very small net spend if any, yet our team has improved. I don't see how anyone can argue that it hasn't. Aspas has already shown that he is better than DOwning, and long may it continue, Toure has strengthened our defence, Mignolet and Reina are on par in my books. So in a nutshell, we have spent almost nothing and have a better team than last season. To me, that spells brilliant management of the club and excellent running of the business. Spend little or nothing but improve at the same time.

Once again I ask you,

If money has ruined the game, if money has made mercenaries of the players and distanced the game from the common man, the local Joe, why are you castagating FSG for taking a stance against that kind of club management? Surely you should be applauding them for trying to run a more sensible club.

Hello Marko

Good post you have sort of got my position right. I think the modern game is pants but I expect the game to change not liverpool in isolation hence my tettter to my MP and the sports minster. If FSG are taking a stand against the modern game why are they the most expensive club for fans in the north west of England it does not add up.

I find your position perplexing to be honest you say you love Liverpool FC yet seem to be wedded to owners who at best are holding the club back at worst are taking us backwards.

Liverpool have to spend big both on the playing squad and the stadium if we are to progress in the modern game.

I would also say on kop talk almost all people are against FSG not just certain posters

I am not against the owners as such they seem like ok people at least John Henry has some personality ref the Arsenal Tweet.
But they are not taking us forward as Dunk said they manage expectations they have shown no ambition whatsoever in either stadium or spending big to get us in the top 4.

The stadium is spun as complicated and signings are hidden behind FFP rules and running the club financially sound like Arsenal.
You cannot compete without spending fortunes on top players end of story look at City they are creating something really big with everything they are doing around generating revenue and making themselves be one of the biggest brands anywhere.

Yes we are doomed

Marko has made a statement Aspas has already proved he is better than Downing. Really how ? where ?

He has only played part of one game at Anfield how can anyone make sweeping judgements like that ?

Hey Stan,

i thought you might bring up the ticket price issue. So, here are my thoughts, I do agree that it is very odd the ticket priče is so high whilst cutting down on expenditure, however i do feel that we need to exploit every possible avenue to catch up. I dont know why the ticket prices are so high, but if the stadium is still full every weekend, i will say it was a good decision as our revenue will increase.

i don't think your description of me being wedded to the owners is quite. accurate though, i do feel they have done a lot of good but they haven't been perfect. I believe we made a huge mistake letting Carroll leave before we had a replacement. They should also be moving a lot faster on the stadium issue imo. However, you havent really answered my question. If it is money that is spoiling football, why are you down their necks screaming for them to spend big? Not just you but everyone calling for them to spend big? Surely the right thing to say would be:

"they are doing really well with these incentive based contracts, they are doing really well taking a firm stance on Luis, they are doing really well not allowing us to get ripped of in the market again but they still need to drastically lower prices and do something about the stadium."

i mean, to me that makes a lot more sense than, they are stingy and penny pinching because in my opinion they aren't, they are just being sensible. They are obviously willing to spend around 30 mil on a player, but it has to be worth it, value for money. To me that is a sensible approach.

Aspas looks average to me he may be good time will tell but Downing however, much as I don't like as a player is an England player and would benefit most teams outside the top 4 which we clearly are.

I'm happy with FSG. The club now has stability. Really happy with the transfer committee. The team is plays really attractive football, and a clear philosophy is in place. They were wrong to trust Kenny and Comolli with all that money, but they have shown the willingness to spend. We don't have the resources of Man City or Chelsea so its not fair to count it against FSG for not spending exorbitant amounts like those clubs.

he proved it over the last 2 seasons at Celta Vigo too. He also has scored more goals than Downing already despite being here for just over a month. Do you think Downing would have single handedly saved Celta Vigo from relegation. It's not a sweeping judgement, it's just blatantly obvious. Furthermore, its not that difficult being better than Downing. All you have to do is get a cross anywhere within a two meter radius of your target, something Downing was incapable of doing.

Well downing did not play for celta vigo (whoever they are) and frankly I could not care less. Its the premiership I am concerned with. He may be better than Downing I hope so but its too early to say yet. He has not scored for Liverpool yet and I dont count pre season I remember voronin playing one pre season and he scored every game and looked a real prospect. Once he started in the prem he was hopeless. So forget pre season they are just training games.
