Am I the only one who thinks the team is still missing a proper DM? I rate Lucas, but he was never a DM to begin with.
In my opinion, that's an area that's been a bit weak. I think getting a proper DM will lift burdens off Gerrard and will probably allow the midfield to supply more goals.

DMs are over-rated, and I am not sure they really fit Rodgers system. I'm not sure he'll make the same lightweight mistakes as Wenger, because he demands all 3 in the middle of the park to be combative, but do we really need another guy on the pitch unlikely to score?!

Right, I'm all for not paying over the odds and getting screwed over, but, if Brendan and the the club are serious about "strengthening the first eleven" with so called marquee signings, surely it makes sense to get these main targets in, early in the window. Then sign the other squad strengthening players.
I hope I'm wrong, but I think maybe we've bought all we're gonna get, with the the club just going through the motions to please the fans. Now wait for the " we tried but ...." excuses to come out.

We do not need another attacking midfielder either, a fact proven by the huge number of goal scoring opportunities that we have been creating since last season. What we really need is a prolific goal poacher, the Lewandowski type, who will turn more chances into goals. Once this target is achieved, we can start looking for a rock solid center back. Then we can begin our assault on a top four position.

I don't agree. I think Sturridge can be that guy. And our greatest need is for a winger, who can interchange with Coutinho. The centre-half priority for me rests purely on Skrtel leaving. But with Downing off, we need a replacement. A striker would be awesome, but not sure there are many on the market we can target.
