Yeah, the cup vs league debate went on for around 50+ pages of posts.

and it will come again as its such a controversial subject, winning a Cup all the way for me over appearing in the Champions League, I want silverware and something to show for a seasons efforts not one of the three loser places behind the League champions, sport is all about trying to win something whatever sport, Wimbledon, Ashes, Challenge Cup, The Open or Gold at the Olympics...

But a 4:th place in EPL gives us CL, which gives us more money to sign better players, which increases our chances to win a cup in the future.

doing well in the league cup will not effect any league games , its only 3 or 4 game extra until January no massive hikes across europe cant see why very strong teams cannot play in the league cup

stop making sense faz it's not allowed, your completely right ofcorse, we rested players in about 10 or 11 games last season before league games yet won one game after all that, West Ham away so you see it's no benefit at all, I will never understand how any so called Liverpool fan who knows what the Club is about with trophies, wants to finish fourth just to appear and let's face it at the most all we will ever do is appear in a competition instead of winning a trophy, bizzare and most puzzling...

It would have stayed like that but the big clubs wanted it changed because all of them could not qualify regularly. It changed when the big clubs started to discuss a break away competition with them in it regularly
