I'm surprised Martinez hasn't made a move for him considering he has signed a few ex Wigan players. Especially considering McManaman came through the ranks at Everton and was a boyhood supporter therefore would logically seem to be a good fit for them. But as alluded to being English and young would probably be over priced.
Simply put. He shined in a few games for a club that was relegated. If he was worth a punt he would be at Everton already, although iirc I believe he is injured. Like Ince, like shelvey etc, its easy to shine when surrounded by muck.

As far as I'm aware he injured himself toward the end of last season and was out for 3 months and is prob still out and missed the under 21 euros. I agree with what your saying, it is different playing for a big club. Thats a lesson we have had to learn the hard way as we wasted money on Adam thinking he would shine in our midfield because he did it for Blackpool. Downing comes to mind as well. But it doesn't work like that. However I do think that McManaman is slightly different as he did produce fairly consistently and got man of the match in the FA cup final showing he can raise his game for the big stage. Not saying he is Liverpool quality but think he deserves another season in the prem.
