Behave Mick. You're condemnation of the club has edged beyond barbaric already. I'm actually questioning whether you're actually just a handheld fan! Not a table fan, or a ceiling fan like me...

Well if we didnt have that fanbase, we would not have had the money to bring in Xabi Alonso, Luis Garcia, Arbeloa, Reina and would not have been able to win the champions league for a 5th time. That global fanbase is what seperates us from the likes of Yeovil town. So that is how it has helped us on the pitch!

I can understand those transfers though Prolific when you consider we were signing a La Liga winning manager, and on the back of competing in the top four under Houllier for so long.

I get that we have fallen behind our usual placing. Most fans, me included, were used to regular finishes in the top 4/5 and we have not done that for 3 seasons. What I don't understand, is how you can compare us to teams like West Brom, Swansea and West Ham. There is no similarity in squad strength, first team strength, fanbase, stadium size, investment, pts from previous season, form, or even commercial reach.

You take the full season, and see that there is a 12 and 15 pt gap to each. You take the last half-season (when its fair to say managers have had time to change things) and West Brom got 16 pts, Swansea 21 pts, West Ham 23 pts, and ourselves 36 pts. Where is the comparison. There isn't. It is misplaced, and shows lack of deep thought at all.

Some opinions are different, and some people can be as right looking at things from the top to the bottom, or left to right. But some opinions are based on nothing, and some opinions are just wrong. I'm sorry to say Mick, I know where yours sits, especially given how little evidence you've given to support the claim.

yes I agree stanley however good luck with trying to convince some on here with that theory, I think they are somehow under the impression the club thinks of us all the same fans.

Liverpool make more from tv rightsthan they do from match day tickets so if anything tv viewers are more important.

TV fan generally you are making profits for the cable company who pay the FA who distribute to the clubs after taking their cut. Whether the overall money is greater than ticket sales is irrelevant. You want to support Liverpool they pay money to LFC in whatever form. Anyone who pays nothing but watches Liverpool you can say s a fan but not a supporter the clue is in the word

why is it then if you look at the facts we have gone worse on the pitch the bigger this global fanbase has grew, We have all these so called fans yet we can't out perform Everton who operate on a less budget and are only just ahead of Fulham and West Brom on the pitch, Only the season before last West Brom beat us comfortably both home and away.

Ever heard of a bogey team? West Brom were ours last season. Just like Southampton and QPR were Chelseas, Wigan were Spurs' and Norwich were Evertons?!

And then you say...

Just ahead of Fulham ( who finished 18 pts behind us ) and West Brom ( finished 12 pts behind us and who lost their top scorer because they didn't actually own him [the loaned him] ). Be serious man.

i don't go along with this bogey team nonesense, it may seem that way with some teams but I don't subscribe. We may of finished that many points of those teams mentioned but for me got three quarters of the season we were nip and tuck with them with absolutely no guarantee we were gonna finish ahead of them, Swansea only tailed off after they won the League cup in February for a start. There was no stage last season were we were ahead of or looked like finishing ahead of Spurs never mind the fourth best team Arsenal and even Everton stayed ahead of us from about October onwards. Can you remember the last time we were even in a top four place as I can't for the last 2 years it's been that long, I honestly think we are further away from the big four than ever before.
