I don't think it holds water. I could be wrong though.

In saying that. We picked a bigger stadium to play in which would of generated more money than Uniteds training show. So in some way, we made more money and looked like the good sorts because we let people come and see us for free.

Yeah, but at the end of the day. We sold out to a bigger crowd and probably made more money. I'm pretty sure that if United could sell training tickets then we could of. It's not like Australians would of decided not to go to the season for a huge English club that has never come there before because the had to pay a few bucks.
But I do agree, FSG might of missed that one.

To be honest I am still not taken in by all this world wide fanbase and merchandise thing, when it actualy starts to benefit us on the pitch and not in the Club coffers then maybe I will think again, until then I will remain highly sceptical about alll this outside support and money supposodly generated.

At the last AGM an analyst asked how much turnover was attributed to the Far East I think it was as little as five per cent. I think the big clubs do it for long term marketing rather than immediate returns. One day we will have club PPV and that's where the big money will come in but that might be 20 years hence.

I will go as far as to say we have gone worse footballing wise since we started with all this global fanbase stuff as for the last 10 or 12 years we have witnessed some of the worst placed finishes in over 40 years not to mention some of the worst teams too, we seemed better without it on the pitch and thats why I ask how does this big fanbase help us.

I don't thnk a global fan base harms us but provides benefits in some extra revenue and certainly without it we would be more worse off in attracting sponsors.
However I do feel its impact is exaggerated.
The vast majority of the clubs income is from Britain Ireland and Scandinavia

We already see the benefit from it, without the would wide game base we are no better than villa or west ham. We would not have the massive warrior deal or the standard chartered deal. You talk some utter nonsense Most of the time.

I agree having a world wide fan base is beneficial even essential to a club of liverpools stature. But my open question is if they are making such a big contribution then why does so much financial pressure fall on the beleaguered match going fans?
Could the cost of financing the club not be shared more equally ?
